PLEASE ACT NOW:
The AL Autism Insurance Reform Bill HB284 may be stalled in the House Insurance Committee. Please act now!
Alabama is one of only five states that does not require meaningful coverage for the treatment of autism, but HB 284 is an autism insurance reform bill that would change that. We need your voice to move it out of committee as soon as possible.
The Autism Society of Alabama and Autism Speaks have endorsed HB 284, which would require state-regulated health insurance plans (including state employee and teachers' plans) to cover medically necessary treatment for autism, including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Please ask Representative Kerry Rich, who is Chair of the Alabama House Insurance Committee, to allow a committee vote on HB 284 on March 8 during Autism Legislative Week in Alabama.
