Rescuing nature's bounty for the benefit of our community
On Wednesday, February 22nd, we hosted our first Farmer Appreciation Party at the new SLO Food Bank. We had a wonderful turnout comprised of new farmers, growers, volunteers, and advocates. We were able to honor longtime donating farmers for their work over the years with GleanSLO.

For any of you that may not have been able to make it out, please know that we appreciate all you’ve done for us! Everyone supports GleanSLO in a different way and each person plays a crucial role in helping us feed our community.

Happy Retirement Carl!
January 31st, our much-loved Carl Hansen stepped down from CEO and into his well earned retirement. He was a huge GleanSLO supporter and advocate.
We will miss him, but wish him our absolute best!
Welcome Kevin Drabinski!
Kevin Drabinski joins the Food Bank Coalition as Chief Executive Officer and we couldn’t be more excited! Kevin most recently served as the senior field representative for the California State Assembly district office serving San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara counties. He has previously held increasingly responsible positions in administration and communications, and is a 30-year resident of San Luis Obispo. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from UC Berkeley, a master’s in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco, and a master’s in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans.

Board Chair Jeff Mercer said, “Kevin emerged as the candidate we felt was uniquely well qualified to set the direction for the operational and financial success of the Food Bank. We were impressed with his experience, education, and leadership skills and are confident he will help advance the mission of the Food Bank while working with its many agency and community partners to alleviate hunger in the County.”
Welcome to the team, Kevin!
Farmer Spotlight
GleanSLO has been thinking of ways to show our appreciation for our farmers who donate and help us feed our community. This month, we’re kicking off our “My Farm Feeds Hungry Families”bumper stickers! We have been handing them out at our events and to farmers markets donors.
Get yours today!
Pictured on the right is Amber of L&C Smith Groves happily putting her new bumper sticker on! In 2016, L&C Smith Groves donated on 42 separate occasions, equaling 3,266 lbs.
