First point is that Summer Camp 2017 registrations have begun and continue through May 7.  Pick up forms at the church office or communications central locations in the Fellowship Hall and Christian Life Center.  This will be the last email sent using the 2016 camp email list.

Second point is that voters approved the bond for park improvements.  This is a great benefit to everyone, but there is a planned proposal for Singletary Lake that would change it as we know it.  Singletary Lake, since inception in 1939, has run as a group camp meaning that the renting group had primary use of the park.  Non-camp vehicle traffic would stop at Ranger Station outside of the gates. The proposal would add a welcome center next to the Education Building, which is the structure at the top of the path down to the lake. The safety concern for renting groups is this would allow non-camp vehicular traffic inside the camp.  

I want to thank those of you who singed the church letter we sent expressing our concerns.  The Park Superintendent did personally email me back thanking me for the letter.  The Park is hosting a Q & A session about the proposal March 9, 2017, at 6 pm in the Singletary Lake Education Building.  I plan to go and if there is enough interest from others who want to also go, we may take one of the church buses.
