Rustenburg Girls’ High School has once again been awarded a top Provincial achievement. Mr Paul van Koersveld and Ms Linda Mallon attended the awards ceremony on Tuesday evening, where we received a Top Award for Overall Excellence in Academic Performance in Grade 9. We would also like to congratulate Rustenburg Girls’ Junior School for achieving the same award for their Grade 3s and 6s.  Well done to all those girls and staff who made this possible.

This week, the girls did their bit by providing a better future for one or two families as part of a Habitat for Humanity building project. With the Cyclathon at the V & A Waterfront earlier this term, the girls raised a phenomenal R82 000 for this charity. It is wonderful to be a part of something bigger than ourselves and our thanks go to all in our community who either gave of their time or money to make this possible.

Our Water Polo teams competed in tournaments and tours that have shown their commitment to excellence. Thank you to the staff, coaches and parents who assisted in making these events successful.

We were very happy to have the annual scholarship examinations this week, attended by 133 hopeful applicants.  Our English and Mathematics departments have their work cut out for them as they assess these papers during this week.

The Art and Design Committee is hard at work designing the meeting area of my office and I’m sure they would be grateful for any contacts there might be that could help them work within a limited budget. This started as a project to select seating and they have become so excited by the project that it has now extended to the blinds, boardroom area and works of art for the walls!

If you are able to help, please contact Ms Speller (spellerl@rghs.org.za), however it is the girl’s project and they have final say on all design and purchases.

Thank you to all parents who have either supported their daughters during this week at extra-curricular events or assisted at school in any way. We appreciate your commitment to the success of the girls at our School.
