Book Club
The Spring Fox Book Club meeting will take place on Tuesday 14 March and we’ll be discussing "The Lost Thing" by Shaun Tan. This is the first time that we’ve chosen a picture book as our focus and we’re really excited about the rich discussion possibilities. Please read it, look very closely at the illustrations and come ready to share your ideas with other children and parents/carers from Years 5 and 6. The text is available in bookstores, in libraries and online.
As always, there will be refreshments to keep you going.
See you at Book Club!
Weekly Theme:
National Random Acts of Kindness Day
During half term on February 17th it was National Random Acts of Kindness Day which has grown in popularity each year. It is celebrated by individuals, groups and organizations nationwide to encourage acts of kindness. This week, children looked at what other acts of kindness school children have done around the world. Children were all encouraged to perform one random act of kindness this week, either at home or at school! To find out more or to continue at home, visit https://www.randomactsofkindness.org/.
St Anne's Update
Year 1 Weekly News
Year 1 have had a great first week back at St Anne’s! In Literacy, we have started to write poems about the magic box. The children have come up with some imaginative ideas and their poems were filled with vivid adjectives. In maths, we have been comparing numbers and solving missing number equations using our place value knowledge. The children have been speaking in full sentences to explain their mathematical understanding and have used the dienes to represent how many tens and ones are in a two digit number. In Geography, we have started our UK study. The children learnt the four different countries that make up the United Kingdom and the capital cities. The children enjoyed looking at the maps and used them to design their own map of the UK.
Year 2 Weekly news
Year two have had a very exciting week! Not only did they have an actress visit St Anne’s who played the part of Florence Nightingale, but they also got to do PE with some year two children from Ashburnham School. The children were extremely welcoming and loved meeting some new children and making new friends. The children have been doing some really challenging maths this week - learning all about the language of rotation and using the language of clockwise and anticlockwise. They have had great fun giving each other directions from one point to another in the classroom.

BAME We are pleased to let you know that we will be holding our Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) History week from 6th to 10th March.
A focused Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) History Week provides us an opportunity to celebrate BAME culture, history and achievement. This also complements our work on the issues of prejudice and racism. We will explore the concepts of identity and belonging through a range of mediums such as dialogue, drama, texts, music and art. During the week, the children will enjoy lessons, activities, trips and workshops specifically linked to Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic themes.
As always, we hope to welcome special guests to share their experiences and answer the children’s questions. In the past, Fox parents have suggested suitable people amongst their own friends and acquaintances willing to act as such guests. These people would be black, Asian or ethnic minority role-models (for example, people particularly successful in a given field) who would be comfortable talking to the children about their work or achievements and answering their questions. In addition, this year, we would like to hold some BAME family history sessions. If you are available to come in and speak for 15 minutes about your family’s background and history, we would love to hear from you. You are welcome to bring along photos or any other relevant props to illustrate your talk.
Anyone who can help in this or any other way, please contact Uz Afzal and Hannah Rickman

Ivo has had an excellent week in Reception and has been working so hard. We were all very impressed with Ivo’s 3-d shape knowledge in maths and he was using our star vocabulary very well with his partner. Ivo amazed us all with all the facts he knows about dinosaurs and volcanoes – he has been teaching us all a thing or two! Well done, Ivo.
