Welcome to the 6th issue of the Roscommon Public Participation Network (PPN) E-Bulletin.

If any group would like to advertise an upcoming event please send details to info@roscommonppn.ie.

This is an opportunity for community groups to learn what is happening in their area and in other community groups around the County.

County Plenary
The Plenary is made up of representatives of all the PPN members. It is the ruling body of the PPN. It decides the policies, programmes and direction of the PPN, and agrees the workplan and budget. Each member organisation has one vote at the Plenary.

We are hoping to hold two meetings of the County Plenary this year, one in April and one in November. We would like to hold one in the North of the County and one in the South and are open to suggestions as to where exactly to hold them. The venue will depend on the feedback from you, the PPN member so please reply with your suggestions.

Training for PPN Member Groups
We asked all PPN member groups in the second half of last year, what training you would like to be offered in 2017 and these were the top responses:

  1. Understanding the local decision making structures - LCDC, SPC's, JPC's, etc.
  2. Fundraising & An introduction to funding - applications, tax
  3. Social Media & Basic Computers
  4. Committee Skills (setting up, managing and promoting the group group)
These free training courses can be offered at local level, location will be decided based on demand. If you or anyone in your group are interested in these training opportunities I would ask people, who haven't expressed an interest to email brenda@roscommonppn.ie. If you have any other suggestions regarding a training need please let me know.
