Stuff That's Happening

  • Mrs Rudd is opening the Media Center for lunch with musical acts performed by your friends! See below.

  • Applications for Timothy Group Leaders and Transition Mentors are open and can be found on your student portal.
Rehearsal Schedule:
Orchestra, Tech, Stage Crew  are present at all rehearsals! Costume crew will begin on March 4th.

Music in the Media Center!

There was Magic in the Media Center yesterday and we’re not just talking about Sam's astounding act. Everything from the kind and considerate audience to the spectacular performances was magical. Let's do it again next week - this time on Friday. Fill out the MitMC FORM if you want to perform in the coming weeks!

Senior Trip Announcement

  • Arlington National Cemetery Wreath-Laying Ceremony: Arlington National Cemetery is one of the most meaningful places the senior class will visit on their trip to Washington, D.C. We will have the opportunity to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. If you would be interested in being one of four ECHS students who will participate in this ceremony, please write a short essay about why this would be meaningful for you and submit this to Ms Bazanowski by THIS Monday, Feb 27th.

  • Mar 20 - Talent Show Auditions! 
    • Email Ms Roniet for an audition time by March 13. Please note any SCHOOL related conflicts, your act and all students involved, and your tech needs. You MUST have 2 hard copies of any lyrics (whether dancer, musician, background music etc...) or you will NOT be permitted to audition or be in the show.
    • Our theme will be DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME / AS SEEN ON TV!
    • Dress Rehearsal is Thursday, April 6 - attendance is required
    • Performance is Saturday, April 8

Athletics


Calling all spring athletes! Registration for all spring 2017 sport is now open. Every student must register in order to tryout and/or practice with your desired team. Sign-up with your parents online, here
  • Check the athletic schedule on our school website for practice times and locations!
  • Spring Sports begin on March 3. Athletes must be registered online and cleared by the nurse in order to participate on opening day!
  • Girls / Boys Community Night basketball doubleheader TONIGHT! Free Under Armor shirts to the first 50 students, food, music, halftime games and entertainment, and screaming for the Eagles! Don't Miss It!!

Clubs at ECHS

  • Clubs are an awesome way to connect with other students who share your talents and interests. Join a club this week! Here's what's up with ECHS clubs:
MAN UP & ANCHORED
  • Join our boys and girls discipleship groups, which meet weekly during SOAR. Sign up this week - all are welcome!
MATH CLUB
  • Math Club will be competing in the last ASMA Math Competition of the year on Thursday, March 9th during SOAR. All club members report to room 104 (Mrs Andrews' room) with a pencil and a calculator.
PEER LEADERSHIP
  • The Peer Leadership Application is now active on your Realtime Portal. This application is for:
    • Sophomores interested in being a Timothy Group Leader next year. Applications are due by end of the day, Feb 28. TGLs are social and emotional transition mentors for groups of incoming freshman. They are juniors (current sophomores) who are interested in helping freshman adjust to the high school environment. 
    • Freshmen, sophomores or junior interested in being a Transition Mentor next year. Applications are due by the end of the day, Feb 28. Transition mentors are students who are interested in helping transfer students adjust to ECHS.
CHAPEL BAND
  • Do you have a call to worship and want to be a part of the chapel band? There will be auditions following the worship team hangout on March 8th. Please come to the hangout at 3:15 and come prepared with one worship song. Instrumentalists are especially needed. If you have any questions, talk to Ms Sankey.

EUROPE TRIP
  • Europe Trip Pot Luck Dinner and Info Night: Tuesday, Feb 28, 5:30-7:30 in the cafeteria. See Mrs Lindemulder or Ms Pedersen for more info.

AP Exams
Registration is open for AP Exams in College & Career. The cost per exam is $120. Please bring a check made out to 'ECHS' to Mrs Shepley to be registered. 

SAT/ACT Test Dates
ACT - Test on April 8,  Register Here by Mar 3
SAT - Test on May 6, Register Here by April 7

College Rep Visits - sign up on your Naviance Family Connection page, or see Mrs Shepley. Visit will be held in the College & Career Office.

Test Prep classes are provided to ECHS students by BrainStorm Tutoring. BrainStorm consistently raises SAT scores 300-400 points and ACT scores by 4-7 composite points. Classes include 18 hours of class instruction and 2 simulated tests, books, and materials. To register, contact Tyffany by emailing her, or by calling 201.705.2038.

Missions 

 
Commissioning Chapel - Commissioning Chapel for our Mission Trip students and leaders will be held on March 24th.
 
Notes of Encouragement - These students and leaders are going on a mission trip over Spring Break. Let's support our fellow students, friends, and leaders as they embark on their missions experience by writing them notes of encouragement. Give your written notes to Mrs DeMarco no later than Tuesday, March 21st. You can pick up a list of these students from the bulletin board. Here are some things you can remind them of: 
  • They are super cool & very brave for going on a missions trip.
  • You are praying they stay healthy.
  • They are AMAZING for going on this trip and that you are proud of them.
  • They are LITERALLY changing the world by showing God's LOVE.

Commissioning Chapel Service
Families are welcome to join us as we commission the mission students and chaperones traveling over Spring Break to Guatemala and India. The service will be on Friday, March 24 in the ECHS Auditorium at 9:30am. All Friday SOAR options will be moved to Wednesday of that week.

Saturday School


Saturday School is a program of Eastern Christian School. All students and adults, both EC and non-EC are welcome to sign up for Saturday School classes. Attention all Juniors and Seniors: EC Saturday School is running a sales training course. Sales is an incredibly useful skill in almost every profession, and this is a great opportunity to learn it! Employment, Volunteer and FIA Opportunities

  • Covenant Christian Reformed Church is seeking applicants for students looking to be Crossroads Counselors this summer! Crossroads is a youth ministry of Covenant Church, and seeks to bring the love of Christ to each camper daily through small groups, worship, games, crafts, and more. Applications and information about the counselor position are available in College & Career and are due no later than March 10.
