All NHS England staff
have free access to
Trip Database Pro

Trip Database is a free clinical search engine which allows users to quickly find high-quality evidence-based research to support their practice and care.
Although the standard version is free to use, there are many advanced options and benefits available in the Pro version.

Under an agreement with Health Education England, all NHS England staff have free access to the Pro version of Trip Database until December 31st 2017.

What are the benefits of Pro?

  • Over 100,000 extra systematic reviews
  • Links to millions of extra free full-text articles
  • Search over 175,000 ongoing clinical trials
  • Access a database of medical images and clinical videos
  • Export records to reference management software
  • Advanced search and refinement tools
  • See which articles are currently most popular

How do I access it?

Access to the standard version Trip Database is free, but in order to access and use your free Pro account, you will need to use a PC which is on the East Kent Hospitals Trust network.

Just go to tripdatabase.com, and as long as you see the image below, it means that your Trust's IP has been recognised and you can create an account to use Pro features whenever you log in using an EKHUFT or other recognised NHS organisation PC.*

Please note that when logging in from outside the Trust network, your account will revert to the normal version of Trip, but will give you full Pro access when you log back in on an EKHUFT PC.
* If you work for a different Trust or organisation and you don't see the Health Education England message, you will need to contact your IT department to ask them to send your organisation's IP address to the Trip team at support@tripdatabase.com

How does it differ from UpToDate and DynaMed?

UpToDate and DynaMed are maintained and edited by clinicians based on current evidence and best practice, producing a searchable database of continually updated topics.

Trip differs in producing current evidence by searching many databases, and gives you complete original articles, reviews and guidelines rather than the compiled report style of UpToDate and DynaMed.
