Dear Dry Creek Staff,

Though many of our Dry Creek Joint Elementary School District (DCJESD) staff members are deserving of high praise and recognition, it is my honor to formally congratulate the following two individuals who have earned Placer County Teacher of the Year honors for the 2016-2017 school year, Lee Etta Ennis from Heritage Oak Elementary School, and Debbie Peter from Olive Grove Elementary School.

13-year DCJESD veteran Lee Etta Ennis' passion for teaching is evident the moment you step foot into her
classroom. Her well thought out, organized, and intriguing lessons capture her student’s interest right from the start. Lee Etta is constantly challenging herself by researching and bringing new curriculum and relevant instructional strategies to the classroom in an effort to increase rigor and student engagement. Lee Etta also brings new and engaging instructional technology practices into her classroom on a consistent basis. Her students can be found developing skills using technology such as Skype, Makey-Makey, and Spheros. She is so passionate about incorporating technology into everyday curriculum that she is Heritage Oak's Technology to Advance (TAC) Leader. In addition to TAC, Lee Etta is also the Positive Behavior Intervention and Support lead teacher and runs a before school coding club for students. DCJESD is very lucky to have Lee Etta as one of our fourth grade teachers.

Debbie Peter has been with DCJESD for the past four-years, but has been working in education for nearly three decades. Debbie has a multiple subject teacher credential and authorizations to work with students with severe disabilities as well as a Resource Specialist. Early in her career, Debbie taught K-12 special education classes at independent international schools. During this time Debbie was the affiliate Director of Destination Imagination for the country of Brazil, and presented at numerous international educational conferences throughout Latin and South America. At Olive Grove Elementary School, Debbie is the site representative of the Accessible Curriculum for All district cohort, and a foundational member of the Positive Behavior Intervention & Support program. Debbie consistently demonstrates instructional leadership by spearheading new and innovative teaching methods. In fact, Debbie was the first elementary special education teacher to co-teach with general education staff, providing special education support during core instruction. Debbie truly shines when it comes to leading small group lessons with her students. Students who are under Debbie's instruction may begin the year with hesitancy, but by the end they speak with pride, walk with confidence, and view life with brighter eyes.

Congratulations to both Mrs. Ennis and Ms. Peters. We thank you for sharing your passion for education with the Dry Creek community, and are so proud you're part of the DCJESD family.

Sincerely,
