Dear Friends and Colleagues
2017 UPDATE

DRONESCAPES

The Center for the Study of the Drone, Bard College, New York has recently interviewed me about my dronescapes.

Interview: PORTFOLIO: Dronescapes by Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox

The Center for the Study of the Drone  is “an interdisciplinary research institution that examines the novel and complex opportunities and challenges presented by unmanned systems technologies in both the military and civilian sphere”. It is a leading research center that focuses, not just on technical and operative aspects of drones, but also cultural, political and social implications.

* Paintings that prompted the interview can be seen on my DRONESCAPES page.

OTHER RECENT PUBLICATIONS

One of my dronescapes Red Rain was chosen for the front cover of Hecate.
Hecate is an internationally circulated refereed journal that prints material relating to women. It is published twice a year by Hecate Press, in association with the Research Group for Women, Gender, Culture and Social Change Research, in the School of Communication and Arts at the University of Queensland. A short written piece by me was also published, plus another painting My Future Posthuman.

Dr. Christine Dauber's article Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox: Paintings 2002 - 2010 was published at Panoptic Press, late 2015.

Kirsten Fogg's article Kathryn Brimblecombe-Fox: Visual Artist and Cosmic Explorer appeared at Writer Out of Residence, 2015.

Not all my recent paintings feature the figure of the militarised drone. However, as a body of work my recent paintings, with or without drones, bounce off each other.
