What did Doris Do - to your boat?
Well, this is what Storm Doris did to someone's boat, and this could be the time to pop down to the club and check the condition of your boat, its tiedowns, and its covers. Members are reminded that it is a requirement that all boats should be securely tied down to prevent damage to themselves and other boats around them. If your berth does not have a suitable tie down rope there is usually some in the clubhouse lobby for this purpose.

Work Party - Sunday 19th March from 9.00 am
Hopefully this date is now in your diaries. All members are invited (should I say expected?) to come to the club to help make it ready for the busy summer season ahead. For all those who work in the morning there is a delicious free lunch, and more than that there is free tea and coffee, but even better than this irresistible offer is the chance to spruce up the club in a convivial atmosphere with other members, and go home at the end of the day with the satisfaction of jobs well done. If you have spotted anything around the club that needs attention please email house@papercourt-sc.org.uk as soon as possible so that the House team can add it to the list.

RYA First Aid Course Sunday 12th March
There is just one place left on this course - Cost £10 to cover cost of literature and certificate. First come first served, contact Peter Lytton on the129ers@ntlworld.com
RYA Spring Course - for Adult Beginners
There are still a few places left on the Adult Beginners Spring Course running at Papercourt from Wednesday 19th April to Saturday 24th June with Wednesday evenings for theory and Saturday mornings on the water. Always popular and with a high ratio of instructors to pupils, we offer high quality instruction with friendly instructors in the club training boats. So if you thought you might give it a try sometime, there is no excuse not to contact training@papercourt-sc.org.uk straight away to find out more and book your place. Make 2017 the year you learn to sail.

Duties - Moving to the new system
As mentioned in the last newsletter, duty allocation is moving to the new Sailing Club Manager System and this will operate for all duties after Saturday 22nd April.
Until that date, all duties, including the Easter Series have now been allocated on DutyMan, and you can log in as usual on the website Duties page to see if you have an allocation. http://www.papercourt-sc.org.uk/duties-guidance-notes/
Remember if you did not volunteer for a duty, you may have been Volunteered by the system and it is now your responsibility to swap with another member if you cannot make the duty allocated, and then let the Duties team know. (It is not the job of the Duties team to arrange swaps for you).
Now the new system - all duties from Saturday 22nd April up until the end of July are now loaded for volunteering on Sailing Club Manager. There is a link on the Duties webpage which should allow you to access and volunteer, using your username and password.
Everyone should by now have a new log-in for the Sailing Club Manager system, but if you do not Membership@papercourt-sc.org.uk can help - but please search your emails first so Judith is not inundated with 500 log in requests.

The poster says it all, but more importantly if you are a facebook user, please click the link below, find the poster on there, and share with all your friends. Youth sailors do not need to be attached to a school team to enter, but if sailors encourage their schools to enter a team, so much the better.
If you are able to help out on the day, in any capacity, please contact Jeremy on jeremyriley.uk@gmail.com as soon as possible. It takes many volunteers for this large event, to run a successful day.

ICS Courses at Papercourt this Easter
Our friends from ICS are once again running two sailing courses over the Easter period (3rd to 6th April and 10th to 16th April) for Optimist and Topper sailors. They have been running courses for over 35 years and always provide good quality RYA accredited tuition covering beginners through to advanced students, indeed, many of our club instructors are deployed delivering the courses.
There are still spaces on both courses so please see http://icscourses.co.uk or the attached poster for more details if you are interested.
Whilst they are on site (9am to 6pm each day) there is no sailing and if you do need to attend the club for any reason please introduce yourself to Jae Willis or one of his team so that they can adhere to their own Child Protection Policies. Thank you for your understanding.
