Happy March! And coincidentally, Happy Half Birthday to me! I turned 22.5 today and it feels good. I'm the editor of a mag/zine (it's somewhere in between) that has over 1,000 followers, two print issues with a third in the works, and publishes new content every week. What started as a project for my senior thesis has grown into something I'm quite proud of, and I have you all to thank for that. So thank you!

February was a whirlwind of feelings and events, personally and globally. I'm still struggling with the results of the Presidential election, and it gets worse every day with each news cycle. I've taken some extra measures for self-care -- increasing my anti-depressant dosage, taking time to watch more movies and T.V. as a mental escape - and I'm drinking more wine because it's yummy and makes me happy. These measures aren't going to be right for everyone, but they're helping me, and I encourage you to find some ways to take care of yourself this month. Every little thing can help, as illustrated in the BORING SELF CARE series-in-progress on Instagram by Hannah Daisy.

I also want to take a second to express my increasing sorrow at the oppression and voilence against the trans community. There have been 6, as of Monday, reported trans hate-crime-related deaths so far in 2017. As most people are saying, it isn't about the bathrooms, just like it wasn't about the water fountains. Pink Things is an ally to the LBGTQIA+ community. I encourage any of our followers to submit to Pink Things, a platform that will let you speak freely and give you a voice. If you know of any LBGTQIA+ creatives that we should know about, tell us! We want to be a platform for all people.

Also, just your monthly reminder that Pink is powerful. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

So in March we're looking forward to the Treat Yo Self Pop Up Event in Kansas City, MO, where we'll be selling zines, stickers, and some Nipple Tees! Stop by if you're in the area! There will also be some Pink Things merch at Grrrl Zine Fair on March 12! While we won't be there in person, the Pink spirit will be. We're also curating our third print issue this month, and working on a new website design! Our current one just isn't as functionally savvy as I want it to be. Along with the launch of the new website will be an online shop featuring Pink Things zines, stickers, and Nipple Tees. If you're interested in vending through Pink Things, reply to this email!

In this month's newsletter, we start with today's new interview with FEM Project Co-Founders, Isabel Fields and Grace Westlin! There are also the online highlights from February, the upcoming events for March (so far), and a Logo contest. There's so much happening with Pink Things, and it makes me so excited to get to do this every day <3 But projects like Pink Things are better as a collaboration, so let me know what you think and what you want to see next. Thanks again for your support, and enjoy!

Today on Pink Things...

An interview with Isabel Fields and Grace Westlin, Co-Founders of FEM Project. FEM Project is a non-profit organization working to destigmatize menstruation in the greater Los Angeles area. They've collected over 10,000 menstrual supplies and donated them to women's shelters in LA. Read more about them on pinkthingsmag.com!
The top post from February was once again the Vulva Gallery! A series of illustrations of every kind of vulva imaginable <3
Third was our interview with Harmony Walbridge of the Daily Grab Back about what we can do as civilians in politics.
The second highest viewed feature was the Ephemeral Bodies series by Judith Juraez Correa! A photo project about objectification and censorship.
And our fourth most popular feature in February was our interview with Chimmy Lawson, author of The Pinker Print, about race, feminism, and, of course, the color pink <3
We published 9 new articles on pinkthingsmag.com in February! Read them all here.

SEEKING PINK THINGS EVENTS MANAGER

Pink Things Events is growing quickly and it's too much for one person (me) to handle on top of the regularly scheduled programming. Pink Things is seeking out a manager for the events page and Instagram feed.

I'm looking for someone who has a couple extra hours a week, is passionate about Pink Things, and wants to help the tiny mag grow. An interest in art, global interaction, and gallery liaison-ing is a plus. Social Media experience is a big plus, as is a passion for pink, intersectional issues, and publishing. This would be a part-time, work from home, position where you would manage events submissions and seek out pink-related events to feature.

Unfortunately, I can't pay you. Pink Things doesn't make very much money and it all goes back into the making of the zine. I refuse to say that you'll be paid with experience, because that's just a sham. But you will get credit on the website and get to work with me on future Pink Things projects.

If you're interested just reply to this email and tell me a little bit about yourself! You should also probably follow @pinkthings.events on Instagram <3

SEEKING PINK THINGS LOGO

At the beginning of putting together this newsletter, I realized that Pink Things really needs a logo! But I (Editor Sarah) am no good at designing logos. Do you know how to design? Help an organization / sister out and create a little something for Pink Things! I can offer a small compensation to the chosen design and credit on the website <3 Reply to this email for more info!
