Translate (Art as Mission Symposium): The Translate Symposium brings together more than 20 national and global practitioners, advocates, and theorists of the arts as front-line missions work, aiming to connect them with each other and invite local church and missions communities to learn about and support their creative and evangelical work. The Symposium will take place on Saturday, Friday 25th from 9am to 3:30pm at Third Church (600 Forest Avenue). Admission is free (lunch is on your own). Trip to Black History Museum and Cultural Center of Virginia : As part of our celebration of Black History Month, we are organizing a group visit to the Black History Museum & Cultural Center of Virginia (122 W. Leigh Street) on Saturday, Feburary 25th at 11am. If you're interested in joining us, please email me (val@citychurchrva.com) so we know how many people to expect. Admission is $10 for adults; $8 for students; $6 for kids ages 4-12; and free for kids three and under.
Is God Anti-Gay? (Christian Formation): Our next Christian Formation class is this Sunday, February 26th, and will explore the question, "What does the Bible say about homosexuality?" This simple question has become harder to answer when churches are on opposite sides of the issue and both claim the Bible supports their views. After looking at key Bible passages and interacting with the various view points, we will discuss how we faithfully follow Jesus and love the LGBT community. A light dinner is provided. Ash Wednesday Service: We will hold a service in observance of Ash Wednesday (the start of Lent) on March 1st at 7pm at Beth Ahabah (1117 W. Franklin Street). Please note: nursery care will not be provided at this service.
Summer Internships: We are pleased to announce the return of our Summer Ministry Intern Program for 2017! As the church continues to grow, we have need for ministry help in several areas of church life: Women’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry, and Men's Discipleship Ministry. These internships also reflect our commitment to the continued development of leaders within the Church and for God’s Kingdom. Conversation for the Common Good: On Thursday, March 16th, at 7pm, Common Good RVA will host Conversation for Common Good, a panel discussion during which we'll work to unpack the following questions: “How can dialogue in Richmond be shaped for the common good of all who live here?” and “What kind of conversations does it take to help Richmond become a city on a hill?” This panel event will include John Inazu, author of Confident Pluralism: Surviving and Thriving Through Deep Difference. We'll meet at The Fourhundred (400 W. 32nd Street). Admission is free!

Mercy Fund on Sunday: In addition to our regular offering, we will take up a special Mercy Fund offering during Sunday’s service, as we always do on the last Sunday of the month. Whatever is given to the Mercy Fund will be kept separate from our general budget and will be used to aid those in our congregation, and in our community, who have emergency needs. Please prayerfully consider what you might give.
Jobs for Life: This spring, City Church will partner with Grace Covenant and STEP to host Jobs for Life, a 12-week, Christ-centered class dedicated to helping those in need of work. Weekly champions (peer mentors), prayer leaders (off-site), childcare providers, business professionals, and meal prep volunteers are all needed starting on Thursday, March 2nd. Benefit for Freedom: Richmond Justice Initiative will be celebrating anti-human trafficking accomplishments with a Benefit for Freedom dinner on Tuesday, March 21st, at Stony Point Presbyterian Church. During this event we will honor the achievements of local heroes in the anti-trafficking community and support youth human trafficking prevention initiatives. All proceeds from the benefit will serve to directly reach more at-risk teens by equipping schools and youth programs with the tools needed to safely and effectively prevent, identify, report, and intervene in human trafficking situations.
