Transfiguration Sunday

Transfiguration Sunday is the last day of the season of Epiphany. We begin to prepare ourselves for our journey through Lent. We do not despair in our repentance and sorrow in sin as a people who would have no hope. We enter into Lent aware that our path towards the cross will always be shaped by the words of Jesus. We listen to Him and we find our way out of doubt and confusion. Come this Sunday and sing the Alleluias of faith. In preparation for this Sunday, I invite you to read Matthew 17:1-9. Discover how we are encouraged to listen to Jesus. Doesn't sound like crazy advice, but this advice can get lost from our focus during confusing and anxious moments.

Concordia Choir this Sunday

A 10-11 ensemble of the Concordia Choir will be singing at both services this upcoming Sunday. The students are working to raise money to support their trip to Germany, which takes place this May. We will be taking free-will offering at the door to support their choir tour of Poland, the Czech Republic, and Germany.

New Bible Study: Malachi

This week Pastor Gaertner begins a study on the book of Malachi, the last book in the Old Testament. Participants can read Malachi 1:1-5 in preparation for this study, in fact you may want to read the whole book at one sitting. It is not long and the continuous reading will help a person get the big picture.

Ash Wednesday and Lent

We will have services with the imposition of ashes and holy communion at 12pm and 7pm on March 1. Our Lent series will then continue March 8 - April 5 with a simple supper at 6pm and Evening Prayer at 7pm. Our Lent midweek services will be an opportunity to look at the different crossroads of faith.

Update on Sharp Family Mission Work

Rev. James and Angela Sharp are missionaries in Uruguay that our congregation supports in prayer and with financial help. Read their summer update.

Fellowship Help

We are looking for volunteers to help in two areas of fellowship. Becky Gusoff is developing a fellowhsip committee that will work to create opportunities for people to share in the fellowship of each other and Jesus Christ. Debbie Stewart is looking for people to help our fellowhsip hour on Sunday morning remain successful. Look in this Sunday's bulletin for more information about both of these fellowhsip volunteer opportunities.
