Looking Ahead to Sunday...
Our Weekly Quote:
Sunday Lesson Summary

'Creating Meaning in our Lives'
with Rev. Eileen Stulak

Each of us wants the experiences of our lives to have meaning. To begin this new month of March, we’ll spend time with how we can center our awareness on our abilities to make and keep a commitment, along with accessing and sharing our gifts. We’ll see how our focus becomes much clearer when we view our lives and their meaning through our spiritual lens.

Upcoming Activities & Events
Vegan Potluck
Everyone is invited to a vegan potluck on the second Wednesday of each month at Unity of TC. The host group, Traverse City Vegans, began at Unity of Traverse City in 2010, with a series of discussions on this peaceful, healthy lifestyle as espoused by Will Tuttle, author of 'World Peace Diet'.  They have held regular meetings and potlucks since then, which are always open to everyone - vegans, non-vegans, and the just-curious.  Please come share a meal, join the conversation, and ask questions. They are happy to answer if they can.

The next potluck is on Wednesday, March 8, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Spring Basket Silent Auction FUN-draiser!
It's that time of the year that we think of Spring. Our spiritual community will once again join together this year in offering a fun and creative Spring Basket Silent Auction FUN-draiser.

Put on your creative thinking caps and consider putting together a basket to auction. Baskets can be based on themes; can be reflective of a volunteer team on which you serve; or just be a potpourri of goodies. Whether you create a basket as a group or individually, all will be welcome!

Information about the fundraiser, including tax donation forms, can be found on the hallway table at the church.

You may bring in your basket during office hours, Tues-Thurs 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. beginning March 7 and no later than Sunday, March 12, 2017. We will be accepting bids until Sunday, April 2, 2017. If you have any questions please contact Yvonne Trudell at kaitlyn48169@yahoo.com.

The ministry theme for March is Meaningful Work and Lives, which focuses on letting go of self- doubt and 'suppose to'.

Uniteens (Junior High) and Y.O.U. (Youth of Unity - High School):
Teens are imaginative, inquisitive, curious, energetic, and hungry to understand life, relationships and the future!

Five highly motivated teachers, who think teens rock, are ready to meet that challenge of demonstrating how teens can take Unity principles into their everyday lives.

The program encourages exploration of spiritual concepts in relationship to life issues through productive conversations, art, projects, and other experiences agreed upon during group participation. In addition to special topics, specifically of interest to teens, the program incorporates ideas from the minister’s Sunday lessons.

Please invite any teens you know to try a Sunday morning Uniteen and Youth of Unity (Y.OU.) Adventures of the Mind and Spirit with one of our great Teen Team Teachers which include Kim Morse, David Ginsberg, Jerry Rahn, Michael Robold, and Libby Robold.

Reaching Into the Community
With this E-news, we are introducing a new feature that we are calling 'Reaching Into the Community'. The impetus behind this was a desire to seek out opportunities to be in service in the greater Traverse City community.

Congregant Brenda Bartz recalled hearing this call during her participation in our 2014 fall study groups. Her idea and invitation is the first of what we hope to be many opportunities offered to our spiritual family for consideration. Here is Brenda's story and request:

In 2014 our fall study groups were encouraged to seek out community service opportunities. Being newly retired, this was already on my list. I felt drawn to the homeless population after connecting with several homeless on a walk with my dogs Toby and Jordy behind Oryana's Market.

I contacted the case manager at Dann's House. The residents there deal with chronic alcohol use and homelessness. My background in health care gave me a leg up. Each of the men in the house have unique histories. I search for the Christ in each of them.

Since I started with Dann's House 2 years ago, Jill Zofia and Tim Sciba have joined as volunteers. I am now on the Board of Directors and would like to ask if you might consider volunteering. If so, you may contact me at bb141953@gmail.com

Dann's House is an opportunity to serve a very vulnerable population. Mother Theresa said "seek to see the Christ in each face."

Thank you very much, Brenda Bartz

We would love to hear from you of other service opportunities that speak to you and that you wish to share with others, you can send them to the attention of Jessica Merwin at info@unitytraversecity.org
