FC+ UPDATES AND FUNDING

1. FinCEAL Plus launches a Rolling Call for Grants under the new Partnership Support Instrument
Through this Call, researchers can apply anytime for any of the following: Travel Grants, Event Grants, Project Preparatory Grants and also the new Research Visit Grants. The planned activity must be related to cooperation with African, Asian or LAC partners, in any of the FinCEAL+ regional thematic areas. More information

2. Virtual Info session on FinCEAL Plus Grants and activities
We're organizing an open, virtual Info session for all researchers and other interested stakeholders on Friday 17th March 1pm to 3pm. Deadline for registration is 15th March. Instructions on how to join the virtual session will be sent to registered participants before the session. Welcome! Register to join here

3. FinCEAL Plus Impact Booklet now published!
What did we accomplish in the last two years? Have a look at how our activities and grants have contributed to building collaboration between researchers in Finland and their peers in Africa, Asia and the LAC region. More information

4. 1st edition of the FinCEAL Plus network database now available
We've gathered together a list of networks, institutions and agencies relevant for STI cooperation with Europe, Africa, Asia and the LAC region. If you are looking for information sources or potential partners in the regions, please have a look! The database is a work in progress that will be periodically updated. Download from our website

5. Info Session on the LEAP-AGRI ERA-NET Call 10th March in Helsinki
UniPID and the Academy of Finland have organized an Info Session for researchers interested in applying for the LEAP-AGRI EU-Africa ERA-NET Call. Register by 8th March. More information

6. New member in the FinCEAL+ team!
We're glad to announce that Ville Tikka has joined the project team as Project Researcher. Ville will be working with us until February 2018. Welcome, Ville!

7. News from FinCEAL+ Grantees

FinCEAL+ Asia event grantee Dr. Merja Itävaara from VTT co-organized and attended "Workshop on Environmental Pollution Problems and Techical Solutions" at Yangon University, Myanmar in December 2016.
The workshop was organized jointly by the University of Yangon, Advancing Life and Regenerating Motherland (ALARM) and VTT. The workshop gathered the academic and industrial partners to talk about the major industrial problems and to find solutions for these. Read more

Call for Expression of Interest - Collaborative Doctoral Partnership
The European Union Joint Research Centre (JRC) is offering a new Collaborative Doctoral Partnership (CDP) scheme to higher education institutions to benefit from a strategic, win-win collaboration with the JRC. The call for expression of interests is open until 15th March. More information

Call for Papers 3rd International Conference on Global Food Security 8-11th October
The event aims to deliver critical analysis and innovative science that address the challenge of global food security. Abstract submission deadline 5th May. More information

ESOF Call for Papers 9-14th July 2018
The next EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) will be held in Toulouse from 9 to 14 July 2018. The call for papers is now open until 2nd June. More information

ERA-NET Cofund Pre-announcement
The ERA-NET Cofund LEAP-AGRI is preparing a two-stage call for proposal on Food and Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture and Aquaculture. The Academy of Finland is a funding partner. More information.

Asia -related

ERICENA - European Research and Innovation Centre of Excellence in China
ERICENA will reinforce the leadership of Europe in research and innovation (R&I) by promoting European Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) Interests in China and connecting and supporting European researchers and entrepreneurs in the Chinese market.

Second Call for Proposals published for the EU-China Co-funding Mechanism for Research and Innovation (CFM)
The Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) published a second call for proposals for CFM. The Call covers the areas of agriculture including food, biotechnology, ICT, space, aviation, energy, health, transport, water resources and so on. Deadline 6th March 2017.

CEBRABIC - New Centre for Europe-Brazil Business and Innovation Cooperation
CEBRABIC aims at enhancing the cooperation in research, technology and entrepreneurship between the EU member states and Brazil. CEBRABIC will be a Centre working on a network basis. Its headquarters and representation offices will be located in Brasília, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Conference IdA-EU-LAC Foundation 2017: The Caribbean in the strategic partnership EU-CELAC, 1 June, Paris, France
The EU-LAC Foundation and the Institute of the Americas (IdA) organize, with the support of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development and the European Commission, a conference to increase the knowledge and visibility of the bi-regional partnership. In 2017, the IdA-EU-LAC Foundation interdisciplinary Conference is organized jointly with of the University of Bordeaux. It will be an event with high visibility that will bring together researchers, decision makers and representatives of international organizations and private sector to exchange their respective points of view on the position of the Caribbean as partner of the EU and Latin America.
