Dear SEK Family:
At SEK, there is widespread agreement that school trips are of great educational and social value to students of all ages. This is a special week at school because we begin precisely this: our school trips. There is a number of reasons we believe these experiences are important for our students. To name just a few, school trips facilitate the learning of abstract concepts, they increase interest and curiosity as they add variety to the regular classroom lessons and they tend to be special and enjoyable learning moments.
Today we enrich the educational possibilities of students by teaching them from hands-on experiences, rather than by simply reading or being told about something. Field trips involve students in a real-world experience making learning more meaningful. They also help to develop social awareness, being an excellent method of teaching students to observe, ask questions, and learn about the world around us in the process. In short, the whole experience ends up being a motivating and memorable one.
Be sure your children will be sharing with you all about their field trips in the coming days!
