More digital radio with small-scale DAB

The Institut für Rundfunktechnik and Bayerische Rundfunk have begun testing components for small-scale DAB in Munich. Small-scale DAB transmission systems for DAB+ can be realised at a comparatively low cost in the low-power range. This technique is suitable for local or temporary broadcasting.

NORWAY'S DIGITAL SWITCHOVER  

DAB criticism subsides

NRK has sent a report to the Ministry of Culture in Norway, showing that the transition to DAB+ in Nordland was completed without major problems, silencing some of the critics of the digital switchover. The report shows how the population of Nordland was exposed to an average of 27 messages about the upcoming digital switchover through a variety of channels such as radio, TV and the internet.

Latvia extends reach of its digital radio tests

Digital radio is on the move in Latvia, as the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre has announced that it is increasing the reception zone for its DAB+ trials. The transmission supplier originally placed the zone at 40 kilometers around Riga when the tests began in late 2016, but it has now been increased to 60 kilometers.

Den Haag FM starts broadcasting via DAB+

The local broadcaster in the Haag, Den Haag FM has started broadcasting via DAB+. Wiljan Pongers, Head of Technology at Den Haag FM said "It is great to see that the possibility of broadcasting on DAB+ is actively supported by the Municipality of The Hague."

Switzerland  launches DAB+ information campaign
