Office Hours
Sun-Tues 11-8

New Hours!

Beginning in April, my office hours will be changing to Sundays and Tuesdays only, still 11am-8pm.
No more Mondays, but Mondays are great for doing other things!
(Which seems to be true, since I rarely had clients on Mondays, what are all you people doing on Mondays?!?)

Wellness Plans

So we are over two months in to this new year, how is everyone doing with those new year's resolutions/intentions/goals? Was taking better care of your physical and mental self on that list?  Then why not consider one of my wellness plans?  They are a great way to keep you on track with a pre-paid discounted plan, so you can never again talk yourself out of getting that much-needed massage, you've already paid for it!  Just schedule yourself and come in on! Getting regular massage has numerous benefits, whether we are working on physical issues that are chronic or acute, or attending to the more mental and emotional aspects of our bodies (which often manifest in the physical realm).  Massage is proven to increase serotonin and oxytocin, those great calming feel-good hormones, and to lower cortisol, that gnarly stress hormone that we all seem to have far too much of these days.  Meanwhile we are stimulating blood flow, lymph flow, and treating your skin with my all-natural organic massage oil.
The wellness plans are a great maintenance program, as we then don't have to start over from the beginning each time if you wait to come in when you REALLY need a massage, with regular work we can continue to build on your wellness and healing incrementally and keep you well maintained.  You change the oil in your vehicle regularly right?  (I hope so!) So treat yourself and your own mechanical being the same.

Regular Massage Prices:
60 minute massage = $70
90 minute massage = $95

Harmony Series
5 60 minute massages = $275 ($55 each)
5 90 minute massages = $ 375 ($75 each)

Longevity Series
10 60 minute massage = $450 ($45 each)
10 90 minute massages = $650 ($65 each)

The wellness plans can be shared with a family/household member! So team up!

And, as always, please speak to me about your financial situation if regular massage care is out of your budget, so that we can create a customized plan that works for the benefit of both of us.

This month's muscle is:
FASCIA!

(which is not a muscle, it's connective tissue. WOOOO!)
Fascia is a vast interconnected sticky web of connective tissue that courses throughout our whole body, giving us shape and form and holding us together.  Without it we would be like the Saggy Baggy Elephant, with our skin and muscles and organs flopping around and hanging off of our bones! The key is, ALL fascia is one continuous piece!
Ah, FASCIA...it seems to be all the rage these days.
But, WHAT IS IT?!?!
The analogy I like to use is: Fascia is the like the Saran Wrap (plastic wrap, cling film, whatever your culture calls it) of our bodies.  It separates and envelopes and keeps our parts segmented and moving smoothly against/around/within one another.  But, just as Saran Wrap was designed to contain a pound of hamburger in your fridge, or make your jello mold perfectly smooth, what happens when we get all clumsy and the Saran Wrap gets all stuck to itself trying to roll out of the box, or we get a little too overzealous when wrapping our meat and/or jello product and bits of wrap get all squooshed into the thing we are trying to wrap?  Chaos, that's what.  Your fascia can get stuck just like that.  When the layers get stuck together, we call these "adhesions" and therefore your muscles/skin/organs don't move properly as they are intended to do.  The best analogy I have read is that fascia is similar to a knitted sweater, when one thread is pulled, it will distort the shape of the sweater, oftentimes in places very far from the pulled thread. In the images here, you can see the fascia as the white fibrous layers that weave and surround all layers of the muscle, down to the tiniest myofibrils.  Massage work, and specifically, myofascial (myo=muscle) release techniques, can address these adhesions and break up the stuck places.  It's like having an expert in your kitchen to unroll your Saran Wrap for you.  Without those dangerous metal teeth on the box!
PSA
For the record, I do not encourage the use of Saran Wrap, it's quite wasteful and plastic products are damaging to our environment.  Please utilize reusable containers, preferably glass, for your leftovers and jello products.
