Office Notes
Five more days for priority registration!
If you have not yet registered your child/ren for the 2017-18 school year, you still have FIVE days to take advantage of discounted priority registration AND secure your child's place in class. On March 1, registration fees increase to $350 per student, and places will no longer be held for returning students. Contact Lauren Beckmann prior to March 1 if you have any concerns or to request a fee deferral.

Ash Wednesday Rice Bowl
On Wed., March 1, the St. Robert community will be beginning Lent in a spirit of fasting and prayer by eating a special rice bowl lunch together in lieu of our regular hot and cold lunch options. All students are asked to participate in the lunch and bring a $3.00 donation for our Catholic Relief Services Helping Hands project. See the flyer in today's home folder for more details.

Bobcat Spirit Day and early dismissal Friday, March 3
Wear your Bobcat spirit wear (or our athletic colors blue and white) next Fri., March 3, and celebrate our 8th grade boys and girls heading to the Padre Serra basketball tournament! There will be a pep rally at 11:00 and early dismissal for all students at 11:15 am as we end the second trimester. 

Volleyball team picture days
Volleyball team pictures will be taken in the gym next week (see schedule below). Uniform tops will be provided. Students need to bring their own shorts.
Mon., Feb. 27 at 11:00: 5th grade teams and 6th grade teams
Tues., Feb. 28 at 11:00: 7th grade teams (girls) and 8th grade teams (boys and girls)


SAM food collection
Each week at our school Mass, students are encouraged to bring a donation for our Share-A-Meal (SAM) collection. The food helps stock the St. Martin de Porres food pantry. All non-perishable food items are always welcome, and this week these items are particularly requested: Hamburger Helper, pasta, pasta sauce, canned tomatoes, peanut butter, and jelly.


Classroom News
Forensics team update
The forensics team continued a great season last week at Pilgrim Park Middle School’s tournament, earning the 2nd place team trophy, as well as individual awards for six students. In addition, we have our first batch of State Qualifiers coming out of this tournament! MaKayla Coleman (Serious Solo Acting), Naod Fessahaye (Humorous Solo Acting), Maura Foy (Poetry), Angelina Maly (Storytelling), and Isaiah Martin (Storytelling) have all officially qualified for State due to their high average of quality points over the past three tournaments!

Dominican High School musical
Best wishes to the St. Robert School alumni on the cast and crew of Dominican High School’s winter musical, In the Heights: Kieran Arnold, Eleanor Desing, Kate Frediani, Camille Jefferson, Brigid Jurgens, Anne Linn, Kevin Linn, Maura Linn, Adela Luna, Cailey O’Neill, and NoraClare O’Neill.  Showtimes are February 23-26 – Thursday, Friday, Saturday (7:00 p.m.), Sunday (2:00 p.m.). James Bond to make his mark in Milwaukee on March 11
The most memorable night of the year will be here before you know it! The auction will feature a cash bar cocktail reception and silent auction with music by our Middle School Jazz Band, 10 amazing live auction items and experiences, the Quantum of Cash and Diamonds Are Forever raffle prize drawings, Operation Spectre paddle raise, dance music curated by 88.9 DJ Dory Zory and Casino Royale gaming.

The deadline to purchase tickets is March 1. You can use the RSVP card that was included in the invitation, or purchase tickets online. If you can’t attend, please consider purchasing a teacher/staff appreciation ticket for $50 each.

Check Out & have a night out on us!
That’s right, join the Emerald Auction Check-Out team and get a ticket for the silent auction and dinner at no cost this year. Come down at 5:30 pm and enjoy 2½ hours of the cocktail reception with passed hors d’ouevres and a cash bar. You’ll have the opportunity to bid on some incredible items at the silent auction as you mix and mingle with parents and friends of the school. At 8 pm when the silent auction closes, you’ll be served an Italian dinner and start your volunteer shift with an amazing team. Bobcat Chance raffle for students and staff
It's not really fair if parents get to have all the fun! Today marks the kickoff of the annual Bobcat Chance raffle - a chance for all students and school staff to join in the excitement of the Emerald Auction. This year our awesome grand prizes include a Lenovo Chromebook (grades 4-8) and a Razor Electric Scooter (grades 4K-3). Tickets are $5 each, and flyers went home with all students today. 

Talent Show dates announced
Auditions for St. Robert's Got Talent will be held after school on Feb. 28, March 1 and March 3 in the church basement. Students of all ages are encouraged to prepare an act. The show will be Thurs., March 23 at 6:30 pm on the stage in the gym. Students MUST audition to be a part of the show.

Advancement Office News 
Yard sign still posted?
If your yard (or garage) still has an Open House sign, please discard the sign and return the metal stakes to the school office. Life Smart signs are being collected to be re-used. Return those to the school office as well.

Tuition Referral Program reminder
With registration currently open, it is the perfect time to remember our referral program. A family you refer who enrolls can mean a $750 tuition credit or cash to you. Review the details here. Thanks to those families who have submitted a referral form.

 
Athletics News
Padre Tournament kicks off next week
8th grade boys: Fri., March 3 at 8:45 pm vs. St. John XXXIII, Port Washington
8th grade girls: Sat.,, March 4 at 7:00 pm vs. Holy Apostles, New Berlin
All games will be played at the Mount Mary University field house, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway. Fan buses will be provided to both games, leaving St. Robert parking lot one hour prior to game time. Click here for PERMISSION SLIP required to ride the fan bus.


Parish News
Join the fight against global hunger this Lenten season
St. Robert and Holy Family are joining together with Catholic Relief Services Helping Hands on Sun., April 2 to package over 10,000 meals to send to Burkina Faso, a small African country plagued by cyclical droughts and flooding. Our goal is to jointly raise $5,000 (or more). This money will be used to purchase the supplies needed for 10,000 meals. Over 80 volunteers will be needed to package these meals on April 2 at Holy Family's McCormick Hall. To register for the event or donate now, please click here.
 Alternatively, cash or check donations may be sent to the school or parish office. Checks should be made out to St. Robert Parish, designating Helping Hands. Questions? Please contact Michelle Frazier.

Lenten Family Mission
Join us this Sun., Feb. 26 after 8:30 am Mass for prayer, song and family friendly activities. You will leave with a special activity for the whole family to do to prepare for Lent.  Register here ASAP please.


Soup, Salad, and Stations of the Cross
Join us for the Stations of the Cross and dinner during Lent. This is a family friendly all-ages event. Soup and salad (and mac and cheese) will be provided. Please consider bringing a dish to pass. Meet in church at 6 pm and don't forget your flashlights on Fridays March 3, March 17, and March 31.

Pius XI Catholic High School 7th grade shadow day opportunities
Current 7th graders are invited to spend a day shadowing at Pius High School. St. Robert students are especially encouraged to attend on March 17, which coincides with a day off of school at St. Robert. Please register here.

A Seuss Celebration at Shorewood Library
Shorewood Library’s annual Seuss Celebration returns this Sat., Feb. 25 in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. Festivities kick off at 10:30 am with a Celebrity Read-In. Shorewood Recreation Department’s Drama Jr. will treat us to a few songs from Seussical the Musical, and we will enjoy Seuss-tastical snacks, crafts, and games.
