Dear family, friends, and art enthusiasts,

I hope you have been enjoying my monthly newsletter! I'm painting almost every day now that I'm working as a full-time artist. If you follow me on social media you might have seen my daily art posts. Fb and IG have been the places I unveil all my new work, hot off the easel. Recently, a few pieces sold within 20 minutes of posting! It was exciting but also a little disconcerting because I realized you deserved first viewing rights as a member of my mailing list.
So from this point forward I will unveil all completed paintings on my blog first! Subscription to the blog gives you priority access to new work. When you *subscribe, you will receive simple email alerts whenever I post a new painting.

In addition to unveiling new work, the ultimate goal of my blog is to archive my artistic life. Many posts will be educational because I enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion for art, oil painting in particular. I may even post about other artists I'm looking at or studying with, but I anticipate most posts will be a behind-the-scenes-look at my personal painting process and artistic choices.

New Figure Studies

These little 8x6" studies are created with oils on mineral paper. I recently discovered this surface while researching alternatives to vellum. It transports the oil paint just beautifully! Read about the inspiration behind these pieces in my blog post Intentional Practice and/or  Nudes to learn about availability.

New Bone Studies

I'm still working directly from real animal skulls to explore the pearlescent colors present in the bone, study anatomical structures, and express a personal interest in the occult. Painting bones is becoming a weekly ritual for me now.

New Painting Videos

I've had great response to these short films of my painting process. Most of them are in time-lapse, condensing a couple hours of painting into mere minutes. Sometimes I use fb live so you can watch me paint in real time!

New Plein Air Painting

This epic view of Mt. Hood as it catches the last, warm rays of the sunset on a wintry Portland evening, was painted from the eastern slope of Mt. Tabor, about a half a mile from my house. The painting is 8x10" & currently available.

I understand that for many people, art is seen as a luxury. But what we hang on our walls and choose to look at every day does effect us on a fundamental level. Art awakens our awareness. It provokes thought, tells stories, enchants us with its beauty, and evokes great joy, emotional release, or peace.

My oil paintings are currently valued at a figure established through sales. Price is based on size (complexity and time-spent are also factors) and covers the cost of materials, framing, a meager landscape painting travel budget, and all other expenses incurred by running an art business. I re-invest everything.

I'm in this for the long hail and take great pains to make the most beautiful and archival paintings I'm capable of. All of my new work is created on wood panels sealed with several coats of primer, gesso, or PVC. The paintings are completed with a final coat of protectant varnish to reveal the hidden luster of the oils and also enable conservators to clean the painting many years from now when dust and debris inevitably adheres to the surface.

I personally package all paintings to guarantee safe delivery. I follow the strict guidelines of industry standards for shipping original art. Paintings arrive via UPS (unless otherwise specified) fully insured for the purchase value while in transit. A tracking number will be provided and you must sign for the package to be delivered.  UPS  will not leave your painting unattended at the doorstep.

Thank You For The Support!

I cherish your interest in my art. It brings me great pleasure to create original work that connects with people and I am honored by everyone who has ever purchased a piece, joined my layaway program, or has yet to contribute financially but has encouraged me to paint in many other ways, none-the-less.

I hope to hear from you with any comments or questions you may have! Reply directly to this email and I will respond in a timely manner. Thanks again!
