Chinese Visitors to the USA to be asked to Provide Social Media Information
Chinese visitors to the USA may soon be asked to name the online social media websites they regularly use. Visitors would be asked to name the platforms, however a response the question is expected to be optional. Not answering would not result in a negative outcome for the individual.
The USA had already had a previous question in place inquiring of visitors use of common social media in the west, such as Facebook, Google+ and Linkedin.
Chinese visitors will now be asked specifically to name Chinese social media platforms, which are very different from those used commonly in the US and other countries.
Similar disclosures have for a long time been requested for many European travelers and other highly developed nations.
