Dear Church,

It's the last Sunday before Lent this week, and we will be looking at the story of the Transfiguration of Jesus found in Luke 9.28-36.  Mountaintop experiences are common in the bible and in life.  We approach the summit and the view takes our breath away and we are transformed.  Yet, we often resist this transformation and when we come down from the mountain we go right back to being the same old person.  What do you need to change in your lives to become the person God created you to be?  What needs to change for you to whole-heartedly follow Jesus?

As we get ready to kick off Lent, how can we prepare ourselves to be transformed?

See you in church,

Pastor Jeff

Sock Hop for The Lord’s Kitchen - Kim Galla
In talking with some of The Lord's Kitchen regulars, they would love to receive socks, especially warm boot socks, but any are greatly appreciated.  We will be taking sock donations of all sizes during the month of February.  If you have any gently used socks for adults, children or babies, we will take those, too.  If you cannot get out to purchase or donate, you can make a monetary donation (please note for the Sock Hop), or arrange for a pick-up by a Christian Action Committee member.  A box was placed in the Narthex on Sunday, January 29, 2017.  For more information, call Kim Galla at 203-375-7773.

Do you want to dig more into the ideas behind our Lent Worship Series, "Gifts of the Dark Wood?"  Then join us for the companion study series Wednesdays at 7pm beginning March 8th.  Using the Darkwood Brew DVDs, we will be led by author Eric Elnes in a deeper exploration of how we find God in the messiness of life and receive the blessings from the gifts of uncertainty, emptiness, temptation, and getting lost.

The book is not required, however if you would like to order it, you can find it on Amazon here:  https://is.gd/darkwood.  Sign up in the lobby of the church or by contacting the church office.  Or just show up!
