Season Review 2016 / 17

We have now concluded what has overall been a very successful year for Hendry, Ramsay & Waters (HRW), both domestically and Overseas, with significant growth from existing hunting clients and also many new faces.
We were very lucky with the weather this past winter with wet days few and far between and no notable storms to create havoc. Bags were both met and occasionally exceeded on all shoot days. We welcomed many new clients and continued to welcome groups into their 20th plus season with some high birds and excellent shooting at our many and varied estates throughout the UK.

Overseas
Our clients have enjoyed some great sport in Spain with Monterias (driven big game), Ibex stalking and of course Partridge shooting, and we have hosted hunting groups in South Africa both in the Eastern Cape and Limpopo.
The past year saw us add a new partridge shooting estate near Madrid to our portfolio. This excellent venue proved to be even better than expected both with the quality of the birds, food and staff. The excellent lodge just has so much character.

Due to the mild winter and minimal snowfall the hind and doe season didn’t suffer at all with most animals staying in very good condition. We had a record year at the red deer and with repeat bookings already being made, we have expanded our stalking grounds this year to include another stunning highland property in Sutherland which has a recently refurbished, purpose built sporting lodge and the facilities to accommodate up to 8 stalking guests at a time.
We have formed a new collaboration in Argentina with a top-class operation. Here we can offer fantastic sport for Dove and Pigeon in an exclusive area, well south of Cordoba and away from that crowded area.
Newly constructed hunting lodge (2015) where you will be most comfortable with excellent cuisine, open bar and fine wines.
We joined a Monteria with a difference in January; the quality of the Stag trophies was exceptional. The two day event was a tremendous success with 30 stags, 49 hinds and 24 wild boar to 11 rifles. Many of these animals were medal quality with stag trophies in the 10 -14 kg class. This 2 day Monteria is scheduled again next season from the 9th – 12th January 2018.

The Spanish Partridge days in Andalucía in the south, were as popular as ever with everyone very grateful to get away from the long winter months and enjoy some fantastic sport in very pleasant temperatures. All the days were very successful with many birds shot and many more cartridges fired.
