Celebrating women's voices
Hello Everyone,

How are you all?

We just wanted to beam in to let you know a little bit more about our 16-hour radio marathon Occupy the Airwaves this week.  We will be broadcasting live this Wednesday to celebrate and mark International Women’s Day 2017.

Since our last newsletter, we’ve been busy working away on this project to present an exciting schedule of radio broadcasting from 8am until midnight.  There have been workshops and training sessions for women to participate in learning how to drive the desk and tech that is required to run a radio show, podcast training and thinking about scripting a radio show.

Over 70 women and girls have been involved in some way to make Occupy the Airwaves happen.  We are really thrilled about this. A massive thank you to everyone who is involved or has contributed in some way.  Thanks also to Exeter Phoenix, Exeter City Council, and Arts Council England South West for their ongoing support.

There will be recorded interviews, dedications and podcasts throughout the day which some of the presenters have gathered from our call out.  We have an interview with Fawcett Society Chief Executive Sam Smethers, in the Women and Activism show between 1-2pm, so a big thanks to Fawcett Devon for organising that.

Exeter Mosque are also celebrating International Women’s Day, between 10.30am and 2pm – do support this event as well if you can.

So now it is over to you to tune in on the day if you can at www.phonic.fm or 106.8 FM in the Exeter area.  Thanks to Phonic FM and all its DJs for supporting us on this project and enabling it to happen.

We would love it if you are able to tune in, if you might Tweet or use FB to send your thoughts about a show @Dreadnought SW.  You can also email responses to us on info.dreadnoughtsw@gmail.com and to Phonic.FM info@phonic.fm, especially if you feel inspired to get involved in local community radio, or have thoughts about what we might do for next year’s broadcasting and if you would like to be part of it.
