March Break in the City
With March Break just around the corner (the week of March 13), check out just a few of the exciting activities and events happening in the City!
Make! March Break at the Library
It’s almost time for Make! March Break, and this year the library is full of programs geared to turn kids into ‘Makers’. Makers are creators, imaginators, dreamers, designers, tinkerers, and inventors.
Making involves things high tech, low tech, and everything in between. It’s using your imagination to make something. Anything. And to have fun while doing it.Visit the Niagara Falls Library website for event details.

Public Skates will be offered during March Break at the Gale Centre on:
- Wednesday March 15, 2017, 1:30pm - 3:30 pm
- Thursday March 16, 2017, 6:00pm - 8:00 pm

March Break at the Museum
Come to the Museum this March Break to discover the science and history of SNOW! Join Mad Science @ 11am & 1pm for two different shows exploring the coldest snow around and the magic of chemical reactions!
Afterwards take a journey through the museum, make a winter-themed craft and complete a scavenger hunt, then finish the day off with a movie at 3pm.

Love My Neighbourhood: Nominations Now Open!
Love My Neighbourhood is a new initiative to help build a more vibrant, connected Niagara Falls. It is an opportunity for neighbours to come together to celebrate what's special about their neighbourhood.
City staff will organize celebrations at three selected neighbourhood parks with the assistance of neighbourhood volunteers.
To nominate your neighbourhood and local park to be the site of a celebration, complete the Love My Neighbourhood form. Simply tell us what you love about your neighbourhood and why it should be selected for a celebration. Then collect signatures from ten of your neighbours who will help with set up, hosting and clean up the date of your event and who will help spread the word about the event in your neighbourhood.
Nominations Close on June 30, 2017.

Live History @ Battle Ground Hotel Museum
Come join the young maid, Mary as she takes you on a tour of the historic Battle Ground Hotel Museum. Using Homer’s The Odyssey as the cipher, engage in a unique experience, as the audience assists Mary in solving a long-hidden mystery, leading to a treasure.
This show is a journey back to a time when the tavern was alive with the past. The audience will experience much about love, loss and honor while being guided through by the one set of eyes that has seen all.
The show will be running on April 1st, at 12pm, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm and on April 2nd at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Tickets are $10 per person, must be purchased in advance by calling 905-358-5082 or in person at the Niagara Falls History Museum. View more information.

Habitat for Humanity Women Build
To celebrate International Women's Day on March 8, 2017, Habitat Niagara announced a Women Build in Niagara. Habitat for Humanity is actively recruiting 350 women to build two homes in Niagara Falls.
The 2017 build consists of teams of 6 women that will be building a semi-detached home for two families in Niagara Falls from August to December, with the two homes being finished in time for Christmas.
No experience in construction is necessary. There are skilled crew leaders who teach you everything you need to know. For more information or to get involved click here.

Species at Risk in Niagara: Input Needed!
Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) is looking for your input on the proposed Recovery Strategy for the Round-leaved Greenbrier. This threatened wood-climbing vine may exist in your area and you can help protect it.
ECCC is seeking any information you may have about the species and its needs, as well as threats to the species or its habitat. ECCC is also seeking your views on the conservation and protection measures proposed in the recovery strategy.
You are invited to comment on the proposed Recovery Strategy for this species during the 60-day consultation period now underway. View the document and provide your comments online.

Exhibition @ the Museum: Snow
Snow, the first exhibition of its kind in Canada, is currently running at the Niagara Falls History Museum until April 15, 2017. The exhibition portrays the amazing love-hate relationship that the inhabitants of this great land have had with snow since the arrival of the First Peoples in North America.
Snow gives visitors a historical and cultural perspective on this element of nature as a source of adaptation, passion, ingenuity and creativity. View more information.
