ONF community, if you haven’t heard, we recently announced the new Open Innovation Pipeline.
SDN has successfully disaggregated the network into separate components. We now have data plane white boxes and OCP hardware, software controllers, and VNFs of numerous types. This has enabled innovation, but has also increased the complexity of building solutions.
The Open Innovation Pipeline is designed to make it easy to build solutions from all of these disaggregated components. By leveraging both open source and software-defined standards to realize the potential of SDN and NFV, we are reducing the friction of bringing innovation into operator networks for the benefit of the entire ecosystem.
Central to the approach is ONF’s deep relationships with operators to validate the vision, a focus on high-value use cases and solutions, and solidifying pre-established paths for taking solutions into operator PoCs (proof of concepts), trials and deployment.
Building on the success of CORD and ONOS, ONF is industrializing and opening the unique process that enabled the creation of these platforms, and making this process available to the entire membership base.
This is an exciting time for everyone involved. We encourage you to learn more by visiting our updated website home page or by contacting us at info@opennetworking.org
