Chinese Lead the Way in Greek "Golden Visa" Investment Program
Chinese nationals more than another other people took advantage of a the Greek “Golden Visa” program, which offers residency permits in Greece to foreign citizens investing more than 250,000 Euro in real estate, or other investment opportunities in Greece.
At a conference in Greece of officials from the Ministry of the Economy, real estate executives, and law firms, participants were presented a report indicating that by January 31, 2017, a total of 1,573 residency permits have been offered to real estate investors, of which 664 from China, 348 from Russia, 77 from Egypt, 73 from Lebanon and 67 from Ukraine. China providing nearly two times the participants as the next nearest country.
Naturally China also lead the way among permits, including residency permits issued to investors’ families with 1,580 from China, 787 from Russia, 211 from Iraq, 203 from Lebanon and 179 from Egypt.
This is one more sign that Chinese increasingly have money and will not hesitate to use it for attractive investment opportunities abroad.
