Moody Family Update

March 2017

Important Announcement

As of this week, I have begun a part-time position (approx. 10 hrs. a week) with my home church as Missions Coordinator. I am excited about this new role! It fits nicely with my strengths and passions, and TFC's missions goals align well with some Frontier Ventures ministry efforts we are already pursuing. I am thankful for this opportunity to invest in my church family, who has invested so heavily for so many years into me and my family.

What this means for our FV ministry and our financial support:
This part-time position will provide about 20% of our overall financial support.

That means 80% of my time will continue to be devoted to Frontier Ventures, and we will continue to rely on 80% of our financial income to come from you, our faithful supporters!

I am still primarily a Frontier Ventures guy, and I am excited to see how this new role at my church will layer in.

Good stuff ahead!

Family Life
  • My Mom is out of hospital after a monthlong stay! She is recovering well from surgery and glad to be home. We will be working on some new routines together as a family to hopefully strengthen Dad and Mom's overall health.  I am so glad our whole family is close (geographically as well as relationally).

  • Tuesday nights and Wednesday afternoons are fun at the Moody home! Some of our kids' friends / classmates from CC have begun coming over each week for games and Bible study. Kitchen cleanup is a highlight, believe it or not, as we crank up the music and do the dishes together!

  • Josiah's Eagle Scout ceremony was a special time! Proud of our young man!

  • We visited our dear friends Heath and Jill in Charleston!

Ministry Updates

  • John Baxter (NextMove Co-Director) and I joined about 20 other missions leaders in Orlando FL for 2 days to help plan future Missio Nexus Missions Leader Conferences. What a privilege!
  • NextMove is partnering with International Project to host the annual 2-day Pre-Conference event just before this year's Missio Nexus 2017 MLC.

  • Our Spring Perspectives Class has been fantastic! Here is what one student recently wrote. This is why I love Perspectives and invest in it!!

It has been so neat to have (the Bible) explained and see God's design in everything. I am learning to read and study God's Word in a much deeper and exciting way, it really is His Story!

To be shown how our God is a missionary God and we all play a part in reaching the lost has been so eye opening and exciting to me.

I love that (our instructors) have been men and women from different ages and backgrounds not just one mold.

And probably the most eye opening part of it all has been all the unreached people groups, I truly had no idea there were so many still in need of the gospel. I don’t know what God's plans are for me regarding missions but I am excited to learn more and grow closer to Him and grow a deeper love for those around me. To look for opportunities to show the love of Christ!

  • We are in conversations with All Nations Family and Wycliffe Bible Translators to add an agency representative to our NextMove Teams!
  • John Baxter (Co-Director of NextMove) and I have been meeting with each of our NextMove Teams to plan our trajectory for the rest of 2017, in order to assemble the first draft of an Agency Resource Pathway to Diaspora Missions by the end of this year!

  • 22 of our 28 workshops are confirmed for the Vision 5:9 Abide Bear Fruit Consultation this fall, for which I am serving as Workshop Coordinator. It is very humbling to work with these missions leaders. Here are a couple of recent email conversations with the facilitators I am working with:

Jeff, for security reasons it is *extremely important* that my name not be shared publicly on email or in any publications. Could you please confirm that we're in sync on that? (Sorry, but I've had some bad experiences and even a fatwa...)

Jeff, when you email (facilitator), copy me and I can make sure he responds….he is notorious for not answering email. He lives on a farm in the bush of (African country) with 19 Muslim Background Believers he has led to the Lord, sleeping on the ground with them even though he is 65.  Discipling all day long through farming metaphors. The guy is a legend.

Wow. Getting emails like this brings me back to reality - this is real. And this is worth every effort and every sacrifice.

Thanks so much for your prayers, love, friendship,
and generous support that make our ministry possible!
