eRA Enhancements: Two More Prior Approval Requests Go Electronic March 2, 2017
As of Thursday, March 2, 2017, the ability to request a No Cost Extension requiring a prior approval and a change of PD/PI will be available through the Prior Approval section in eRA Commons. These features currently only apply to NIH awards and are an optional method. Contact your awarding IC to determine the best method for making these requests before initiating either a No Cost Extension or Change of PD/PI.  Look for features, details, and screenshots in the eRA Commons Online Help.

OSP to host NSF Webinar on Proposal Submission Modernization initiative
The topic of the third ERA Forum will be NSF’s Proposal Submission Modernization (PSM) initiative. PSM is a multi-year effort to modernize and migrate proposal preparation and submission capabilities from FastLane to Research.gov.  This Forum will specifically focus on Sponsored Projects Office (SPO) and Authorized Organizational Representative (AOR) access and activities.

ClinicalTrials.gov: Final Rule and NIH Policy
The requirements for registration and results reporting on ClinicalTrials.gov are expanding.  Are you up to date with the requirements?  Did you know that NIH funded studies will be required to register and report results?  Attend this educational session to learn more about:

HMS Recruiting for OBI Financial Reporting Pilot Users

The Office of Finance is seeking pilot users to test the new OBI dashboards. This would require a few hours a month and involve running the new dashboards, comparing them to CREW results and providing feedback on data issues. All ecrt statements should be reviewed during the Review Period prior to release for PI certification. All ecrt statements must be certified prior to the due date to comply with Harvard University Effort Reporting Policy.

Oracle Business Intelligence, also referred to as OBI, is an interactive data analysis tool that allows users to navigate, drill down, slice and dice, and aggregate data within a web browser.  In the course, learners are provided an overview of the tools navigation and functionally through demonstrations and try it exercises.  This course is required to get access to OBI. Register at Harvard Training Portal.

3/13 – OBI Detail Transaction Listing Super User Session (Longwood)
Oracle Business Intelligence, also referred to as OBI, is an interactive data analysis tool that allows users to navigate, drill down, slice and dice, and aggregate data within a web browser.  This course is a pilot session for OBI Super Users and pilot testers to learn how to use the Detail Transaction Listing dashboard in the OBI reporting application.  The Detail Transaction Listing is the OBI version of CREW’s Detail Listing. 3/15 - OBI and the Closeout Process
There are various activities associated with closing out a sponsored project or award. There are usually reporting obligations to the sponsor, financial reconciliations, forms and reports for the institution, and account closeout tasks which must be completed. This Webex will focus on using OBI and the OBI dashboards to aid in the closeout process and procedures. Join us to explore this functionality in OBI and address your questions.

3/27 - GMAS Basics and Requests Training
This course is intended for individuals in departments who have responsibility for creating or reviewing proposals for routing to central sponsored submitting offices or staff who have responsibility for entering or reviewing proposal data in GMAS. An introduction to Harvard’s Grants Management Application Suite (GMAS) and how it is used to manage sponsored projects. The following topics will be covered: Basic system navigation; Overview of the content housed within the system; How to access different project data elements; Project creation using the request guided steps; How to route proposals for review and sign off; Review of all the request types available and guidance on when they should be used; Project security; and Portfolio management tools. 3/30 - REACH Advanced: Preparing for a Site Visit
Site visits by a donor or external party can be a stressful experience. This session explores strategies for pre-site visit planning; managing the entrance meeting, visit and information requests; and for follow-up post-visit. Participants will walk away with a toolbox and techniques for anticipating what information is required, visit preparation, communicating with the site visitor, and issue management and resolution.
