Thanks for subscribing to the Bikepacking Scotland newsletter. Although the weather might not suggest it at the moment, the bikepacking season is soon to start, and we are busy working on the Central Belter, a new bikepacking route through the heart of Scotland. There are also some great talks coming up, and if you are at the Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoor Pursuits Show in Glasgow next week, you can have a look at the bike that made it 34,000 km around the world, all with bikepacking bags.

Read more about the newest Bikepacking Scotland project here, a bikepacking residency in the Ale Water Valley, south of Melrose in the Scottish Borders. As part of this we are hoping to create a new beginners route in this beautiful part of Scotland and a catchy new video. Markus will also be talking about his round the world bikepacking trip on 28 Mar at the Woll Restaturant on the New Woll Estate. Tickets are available here. It's an amazing part of the Borders with lovely villages, yummy food and friendly locals, all perfect ingredients for a new adventure!

This is the bike that made it all around the world. It'll be on display from Friday 10 - Sunday 12 at the Cycle Law Scotland stand at the Scottish Cycling, Running and Outdoor Pursuits Show in Glasgow at the SECC. Markus will be talking about bikepacking in the theatre on Friday at 1.15pm, Saturday and Sunday at 11.55am, and you can grab him for a chat afterwards at the stand. East Lothian offers amazing vistas and great trails to escape Edinburgh for a weekend. Here's a new route that makes a great overnight trip, enjoying a quiet spot to camp or bivvy on the coast. The route finishes in Longniddry, where you can hop on the train, otherwise you can take the Sustrans Route back into Edinburgh. You can find the route description and GPX to download here.

Adventurous Edinburgh will give you new inspiration for the upcoming bikepacking season. Geoff Allan, author of the Scottish Bothy Bible, Jenny Tough, who cycled the Baltic Sea Route and ran across the Tien Shan, and Bikepacking Scotland Founder Markus Stitz, who cycled the world on a singlespeed bike, will talk to Dan Bailey, editor of UKHillwalking.com about their passion for adventure and their favourite routes in Scotland.
