Mr. Delaney wrote that Joyce “believed that the key to human nature lay in observing the commonest acts of man, ordering a drink, eating a meal, opening an umbrella, folding a newspaper.” Interesting — that would require looking up from a smartphone these days.
Moving right along, did you catch any of Walmart’s “Receipt” mini-films during the Academy Awards broadcast?
The 30-second “We’ve never seen a film based on a Walmart receipt” teaser got our attention. The "FINDING INSPIRATION IN UNUSUAL PLACES" was a nice touch. We didn’t get to see it within the context Sunday evening's broadcast. Our take is that these are “sit down and pay attention” ads that actually could find a home on the big screen before a movie.
