Annual Dinner 2017 Report: Elected Officials Join Forces With MY Project USA - Protecting & Empowering Our Youth Fighting Against Islamophobia Through Service and Charity
Dear Family,
On February 25, 2017, MY Project USA held a historic event. It was our Annual dinner 2017 at the Dublin Recreation Center. First time in the history of Columbus, Muslim community joined forces with a state legislator and a couple of city council members to protect and empower refugee and immigrant youth from poverty, hunger, gangs, pimps, violence and other threats within their neighborhood.
City Council members Elizabeth Brown and Mike Stinziano have been engaged with our organization at more personal level and have our work first hand. They were in attendance and discussed the importance of community building and civic engagement. We presented them with our 2017 Champions of Change Award.
It was a night of celebration. We outlined the accomplishments of our organization thus far, and we illustrated the work that we are doing in our Hilltop community and largely in the Columbus community from the MY Family Pantry, development of the Hilltop Empowerment Programs and a number of other initiatives. Attendees learned about our continued and upcoming projects and how to invest into the future of thousands of children and families right here in Columbus, Ohio. We extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful and esteemed community. Thank you for your help in protecting and empowering youth against drugs, gangs, and violence. Thank you for your assistance in helping to foster strong Muslim youth as community leaders and public servants. We appreciate your help in building resilient and self sufficient communities.
With your continuous support and Allah's blessing, we hope to serve our community for years to come.
Working hand in hand with the community members in Central Ohio
In the aftermath of President Trump's executive order banning refugees and Muslims from seven different countries, MY Project USA has emerged as the main Muslim social services organization in Columbus that is also organizing community to address the issues that are affecting our communities and neighborhoods. We have been participating in various fora and have created spaces to bring various stake holders on same page. Please check the links below for past and upcoming events. Please join us and encourage your friends and family members to do so as well.
MY Family Pantry Passed 100,000+ Healthy Meals & Snacks
We Are Low on Rice, Sugar, & Flour - Adopt A Family Now
MY Family Pantry Volunteers and Kent State Volunteers after distributing 15,000 meals and snacks on Saturday. #MYProjectisUSA
We are truly grateful for Allah (SWT)'s support and your presence in our project. Together, we were able to distribute enough food to make over 100,000 meals for more than 6,000 individuals since Thanksgiving 2016. Please see the pantry tracker's report below.
We pray that with God's help you are able to draw some more attention to our pantry.
We have renamed our MY Wedgewood Project to the MY Hilltop Project, as we are focused on working with young people in the Hilltop area and believe that we will be able to have a larger and more holistic impact if we increase our focus on any child in the west side, inshallah.
Each Saturday, we are offering different classes, workshops and activities to various segments of the community that would help these moms and dads, boys and girls, old and young in their paths to have a successful, prosperous life. This would help them in their fight against the pimps, drug dealers and other criminals in their neighborhood.
More Questions about the MY Hilltop Project: Call Mushtaq Dualeh at 614-905-0977.
MY Hilltop Project is free for attendees. All attendees would be served with the restaurant style dinners provided by the MY Soup Kitchen volunteers. This has been a great incentive for many people to join any meeting/training/activity. In coming weeks we will combine the food requests to the Hilltop Project volunteer sign ups.
PLEASE SIGN UP NOW and encourage all your friends and family member to do the same.
