1) March 8 Open House/Drop in Session
 
The BCRG Open House/Drop in Session is this Wednesday. Drop in any time between 4pm - 7pm on 8 March at the Brooklyn Community Hall in Cypress Avenue.

We encourage you to come along and speak one-on-one with representatives from EPA, state government, Councils, and industry about their efforts to improve Brooklyn’s air quality.

There will also be a BCRG booth at the event – we would love you to stop by and tell us what you think about our normal BCRG format, and how it might be improved in the future.

2) Tours of the Air Monitoring Station, Brooklyn at the Open House March 08.

EPA’s Applied Sciences Group will also be conducting tours of the air monitoring station at Brooklyn Reserve during the Open House /Drop in session.
Tours will take place at 4:30, 5:00, 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 and leave from the Brooklyn Community Hall. 

Each tour has a limit of 4 people so please register online or at the front desk on the day.

You must assemble at the front desk 15 mins prior to the tour leaving or your spot will be given to someone else as places are limited.


3) BCRG Community action on Monitoring
At the BCRG forum in November 2016 the following action was recorded.

161116_2: Community members to approach EPA Victoria to discuss other options for dust monitoring closer to the industrial precinct.   

The BCRG Open House on March 8 offers an excellent opportunity to catch up with the EPA Victoria staff to discuss this.
4) Brimbank Councillors Appointed to BCRG
Stuart Menzies, Director City development, has advised that at the Ordinary Meeting of Council held on 13 December 2016, Council appointed Mayor Councillor John Hedditch, Councillor Sam David JP and Councillor Kim Thien Truong as representatives for the Brooklyn Community Representative Group.

The Councillors look forward to their involvement with the BCRG and our work together on improvements in Brooklyn in 2017. The Councillors are intending to attend the BCRG session, next Wednesday 8 March 2017. 
 
Please also be aware that Councillor Truong has been appointed as the Chair of Council’s Brooklyn Industrial Precinct Strategy Committee which had its first meeting last Wednesday 22 February 2017.

BCRG Advertising and ongoing publicity and posters
We have produced a promotional poster for BCRG and put a few up in community centres in Yarraville and south of the freeway but it would be great to get them posted in more places. If you would like to put a poster up the document is available on the Brooklynip website.
  • Other ways you can help is to use this text and the links to the website and Facebook in your promotional material/social media.

The Brooklyn Community Representative Group Community Forum (BCRG) is an opportunity for members of the community, industry, local and state government to discuss issues about the air quality of the general Brooklyn area. It also enables the communication of plans and progress by individual industries, local government and EPA
