Last Saturday, we had 1,200 people come to the Gary Chapman seminar on marriage. Over 50% were not from our church . . . but so many of you brought them with you! Your generous giving makes events like this possible. Enjoy this comment from one couple that attended: “Came to the conference with one foot out the door as a last resort. Now both my feet are indoors with my shoes in the closet with no desire to go outside.” Working together, we all helped many marriages in our community!

Numbers are based on our $7,750,000 annual General Fund budget.

Loving Our Community . . . Again!

It’s inspiring to see our church come together for efforts such as Love Europe, OC United, and Christmas Blvd. We can add another to the list—the Gary Chapman conference held here last Saturday. Dr. Chapman taught about 1,200 attendees what it means to have a biblical marriage.

We had two goals for this event. One goal was to encourage marriages inside our church. About 40%—almost 250 couples from our church—renewed their commitment to each other and to God.

Our second goal was to reach out to those outside our church whose marriages needed encouragement, and also to those who haven’t yet come to faith.

Outreach efforts included:
  • A billboard on the 57 freeway for a month
  • Radio announcements on KWVE (107.9 FM)
  • Facebook ads
  • Promotion by Biola’s Center for Marriage and Relationships
  • And especially, your outreach efforts. Many attenders gave the “You’ve Been Gifted” free conference pass to coworkers, neighbors, friends, and relatives.
The result? Over 60% of the attendees were not from our church! Great statistic, isn’t it? The stories are even better...
