IC-IMPACTS CEO DR. BANTHIA WINS WORLD CSR AWARD

Dr. Nemy Banthia was awarded the Global Corporate Social Responsibility Leadership Award on February 18, 2017 in Mumbai, India. Organized by the World CSR Congress, Dr. Banthia received the award for the sustainable technology and community change that has been accomplished through the work of IC-IMPACTS.

Consul General Mr. Jordan Reeves was also in attendance to congratulate Dr. Banthia and to celebrate Canadian Innovation being recognized at the award ceremony.

IC-IMPACTS STUDENTS LEADING PROFESSIONAL WORKSHOPS

IC-IMPACTS launched its HQP Leadership Grant last year to help students design, manage, and lead their own workshop. Six students were awarded grants and each will host student-led conferences throughout 2017. IC-IMPACTS is proud to share two events, and will continue to share more as HQPs finalize their workshop plans.

SAVE THE DATE: IC-IMPACTS 2017 RESEARCH CONFERENCE

IC-IMPACTS will be holding its annual Research Conference this year on Friday June 9 and Saturday June 10, 2017.  The conference will also feature student poster presentations and a separate Graduate Student Seminar on Sunday June 11, 2017.

Last year’s Research Conference and Graduate Student Seminar were a great success and featured exciting interactive discussions, student presentations, and speakers from organizations working in similar areas.

IC-IMPACTS 2017 SUMMER INSTITUTE NOW OPEN

IC-IMPACTS is hosting its third annual Summer Institute at UBC in Vancouver and in the First Nation community of ?AQ'AM located near Cranbrook.

This unique community-based experience will help participants develop an understanding of how applied research programs can address real-world challenges for communities in the areas of infrastructure, water, and health.

Please note - space is limited - only 24 graduate level students will be selected to attend this program!

2017 SUMMER COMMUNITY INTERNSHIPS NOW OPEN

IC-IMPACTS has partnered again with University of Alberta's Engage North initiative to offer graduate fellowships in the Yellowknives Dene First Nation community.

2 graduate-level, four-month long fellowships are available: one structured as a Community Health Project and the other structured as a Water Analysis Project.

If you are interested in developing an understanding of the unique challenges faced by Northern and Indigenous communities in Canada, this unique opportunity may be for you!

Canadian and Indian researchers who are ready to demonstrate their technology are invited to apply to the Innovative Technology Demonstration Projects Initiative.

Researchers can receive up to $45,000 to assist in final-stage technology refinement, technology adoption, and deployment costs.

2017 KHARE SCHOLARSHIP NOW OPEN

The 2017 Pradeep Khare Memorial Scholarship is now open and is accepting applications until March 3, 2017!

The scholarship provides financial assistance of up to $2500 for international students from India who are studying at a Canadian Institution and is awarded to a student who demonstrates leadership, drive, and academic excellence.

3 SUMMER INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE AT iSSELAB

Three summer internships are available at the interfacial Science and Surface Engineering Lab at the University of Alberta. The position will commence in May 2017 and will last 4 months, with possible extensions up for 6-8 months.
