Practice to my Preach:
The Future Project Update

There was a time when being a full-time motivational speaker was my professional goal and focus.  I think that has changed after being a Dream Director for 4 years. I have to do both.  Dream Directing is my practice.  Motivational speaking is my preach.  They aren't required to go hand in hand in the speaking industry but I do believe the value I am bringing to students and educators is more valuable because the strategies are more sustainable because of the hands on practical experience I have of working with students and educators day in and day out.

In this photo below there are 7 images of why your practice should inform your preach in any arena.
Top Left:  Our monthly Passion Speaker Series for our AP students around perseverance and overcoming challenges. 45 AP students are attending this event once a month.
Top Middle: Our schools new mantra geared towards teaching students positive self talk and speaking your truth into existence at all large school events.
Top Right:  1 of 3 classes I am conducting Motivational Interventions in to focus on together building and socio-emotional challenges within the classroom environment.
Center: The leaders of the Dream Team meeting with our Principal for the first time about student led and student executed initiatives for the first time ever.  They requested, managed and made 2 asks in the meeting.
Bottom Left: Two of my students want to be doctors so we went and had a two hour lunch with a spinal surgeon about the world of being a doctor.
Bottom Middle:  Marcos is one of my students from my old school that is having challenges getting to graduation yet he is still in pursuit of his passion of modeling. With his passion guiding him, he'll get to the finish line eventually!
Bottom Right: A Future Project alumna, Justice Hatterson, gave Marcos that opportunity to continue pursuing his passion working for her modeling agency she started at 20.  Justice has mentored a number of my students who have fashion related passions.

This is the practice, motivational speaking is the preach to tell you what did and didn't work from the practice!
