City Council designates Hillsboro a sanctuary city

The symbolic resolution approved by the City Council at Tuesday night's meeting:
  • Reaffirms the City's existing practices and does not change how the City operates
  • Reiterates appreciation for the community's diversity
  • Does not provide any additional protection from federal immigration law enforcement

An update on the damaged Chief Kno-Tah sculpture

In early February, a falling tree landed directly on top of the highly-degraded sculpture. The City is working with a team of professionals to complete an evaluation of the best path forward by early April.

Attend the Block 67 open house

Make plans to attend the Block 67 open house on Tuesday, March 14, from 5:30 to 7 pm, at the Walters Cultural Arts Center. The name Block 67 refers to the property’s location between 6th and 7th avenues in Downtown Hillsboro.

Hillsboro firefighter earns badge, then proposes to his girlfriend

After earning his badge as a Hillsboro firefighter, Taylor Mehringer turned his attention to proposing to his girlfriend during a ceremony at the Hillsboro Fire Department's Cherry Lane Fire Station.
