CDE is committed to supporting an open, inclusive and responsive standards review and revision process. This monthly newsletter serves as a reminder of all the ways you can participate and give your feedback.

In this first edition of the newsletter, you will find information on applying for one of the standards review committees. The Office of Standards and Instructional Support will also begin hosting monthly webinars to assist those interested in keeping up with the standards review process.

Apply to serve on a standards review committee

CDE is seeking members for committees representing each of the 10 content areas within the Colorado Academic Standards as well as English language proficiency, personal financial literacy and computer science.

The standards review and revision committees will be tasked with providing revision recommendations to the State Board of Education.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 15.

For a list of committees, details and to complete the application, visit the Standards Review and Revision Committees webpage.

Attend a monthly informational webinar

In order to keep stakeholders updated, the Office of Standards and Instructional Support is hosting monthly informational webinars throughout the standards review and revision process.

March's webinar will include a brief overview of the standards review and revision process, a discussion of updates to Colorado’s 21st Century Skills and information about the development process for new, secondary computer science standards.

The webinar will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 16. To participate in the webinar, join via Adobe Connect at start time and date.

View details and future webinar dates on the Standards Review and Revision Monthly Webinars webpage.

Provide feedback through the online system

CDE has developed an online standards review system to enable all Coloradans to provide specific feedback on each and every expectation within all 10 content areas of the Colorado Academic Standards.

This is your chance to provide feedback directly to the committees that will be making recommendations for revisions to the standards. Watch a tutorial of the online system and provide your feedback by Sunday, April 30.
The review and revision process is required by Senate Bill 08-212, known as Colorado’s Achievement Plan for Kids (CAP4K). The law requires a review and revision of the Colorado Academic Standards on or before July 1, 2018, and every six years thereafter.
