2017 Summer Camps


Registration is now open for the 2017 Summer Camps!

UNC Coastal Studies Institute (UNC CSI) will offer seven summer experiences in 2017 for students 10 – 15 years old.  These day camps combine STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) concepts with fun, hands-on activities to keep campers exploring and learning while having a great summer experience. Students will snorkel, kayak, collect species data by seining, trawling and hook-and-line fishing, study plankton in the lab, engineer ocean exploring equipment, and experience many other fun educational activities.  Camp begins at 9:00 am and ends at 3:30 at UNC CSI campus, and all camps are $250 except for Science and SCUBA and include t-shirts, water bottles and snacks.  There are a variety of camps experiences that focus on everything from Art to SCUBA diving.

Surf Science Camp: June 12-16, 2017

Coastal Science Camp: Exploring Estuaries: June 19-23, 2017

Surf Science Camp: July 10-14, 2017

Coastal Science Camp: Marine Science: July 17-21, 2017

Science and SCUBA Camp: July 24-28, 2017

Art and Science Camp: July 31 – August 4, 2017

Camps begin and end at UNC CSI each day, but campers will visit many areas of the Outer Banks by van, boat or kayak.

UNC CSI is also working in partnership with Jennette’s Pier to offer Surf and Science Camp June 12 – 16 and July 10 – 14, 2017.  These camps will focus on oceanography concepts and wave characteristics as participants learn to surf.  Registration for this camp begins on March 7.  Please visit Jennette’s Pier’s website to register:  www.ncaquariums.com/jennettes-pier.
