Note to Members: Today is the deadline for turning in your 2017 Membership Application and Investment without seeing a gap in your benefits. We will begin updating our website, advertising, and events with paid 2017 Members, and anyone who has not yet contributed will be removed. Please consider sending in your application soon if you are still considering it; we'd love to have you join us!

'Comfort Coffee'

Join Gateway Hospice THIS FRIDAY, MARCH 3RD from 10-11am for a cup of coffee and some sharing time. These events are open to anyone who has experienced loss or difficulty with grief and are searching for a little comfort. Gateway Hospice is located at 103 2nd Ave NE.

Mark your calendar for Mosaic in Northern Iowa's 2017 Chilifest, which will be held on Tuesday, March 14th at 210 2nd St NW in Clarion. Lunch will be served from 11am-pm and supper from 5pm-7pm. There will be a raffle drawing for some great prizes! The Annual Chilifest in Clarion allows Mosaic to raise funds each year to use for projects. Proceeds from this year will be used to support meaningful day activities and fill the gap where funding is needed for those they support.

As part of the Clarion Library's "Share & Learn" series, join Karl Schaper, as he speaks on Germany, Hitler youth, the Cold War, and coming to America, on Monday, March 6th at 7pm at the Clarion Public Library. No charge and open to the public.

"Collective Goods & Flash Sale"

Mark your calendars for the Iowa Specialty Hospital Auxiliary & Gift Shop “Collective Goods & Flash Sale”. It will be on Monday, March 27th from 10am-4pm in the ISH Board Rooms just off the Wildflower Café. There will be books for all ages and an assortment of gift items.

TOASTMASTERS' TIDBIT!

Part 2:  When You Are the Speaker...

Open your speech with an attention-getting statement or question. Avoid opening with the speech title.

Use the speech title as the last phrase of the speech, which will tie the end to the beginning. Avoid the phrase "Thank you." Simply finish with: "Mr. Toastmaster" or "Mr. President."

The master of ceremonies will approach you and shake your hand. You can return to your seat, while the audience will be thanking you with applause!
