Conference Call for Papers

CEPR/IZA Annual Symposium in Labour Economics 2017
14-15 September 2017
Hosted by the Queen Mary University London

Submission deadline – 6pm (UK time), Friday 21 April 2017

We are inviting you to submit a paper proposal or express interest in attending the CEPR/IZA Annual Symposium in Labour Economics 2017. The symposium will take place on 14-15 September, and it is hosted by Queen Mary University of London (UK).

This year's symposium features a keynote talk by Stefano Della Vigna, UC Berkeley.

The goal of the symposium is to provide a forum for high-quality work in labour economics and to bring together economists in the field from across Europe as well as key researchers from outside the region. Paper proposals are invited in any area of labour economics.

The event provides an opportunity for researchers from different universities and countries to discuss their work in a relaxed atmosphere and to develop long-term collaborative relationships. It also provides an opportunity for young researchers to meet and discuss their work with senior economists.

The conference brings together around 30 economists for a period of two days. To foster the desired interaction, we ask that participants stay for the entire duration of the symposium. The programme will start on Thursday morning (14th) and end on Friday afternoon (15th).

Funding
CEPR will cover travel costs, but only limited funding will be available. CEPR cannot at this stage commit to financing the travel expenses of all participants. We would therefore encourage you, wherever possible, to draw upon research travel funding you may have at your disposal. Please indicate in your application whether you will be able to cover your own travel costs or whether you will require funding from CEPR. Where CEPR does contribute to travel costs, this will be in accordance with the CEPR Travel Guidelines here.

Accommodation costs will be covered for all programme participants. Meals taken during the conference will be covered for all participants.

How to apply
For CEPR members, please submit your paper by logging into your profile via the CEPR online system. If you do not have a personal profile to use this area of the CEPR website as yet, you can create one here. You may also want to refer to our Guidelines on how to register online for CEPR Meetings here.

If you have any difficulty in applying or you are NOT a CEPR member, please email Amanda Vincent-Rous in the CEPR events team, at avincentrous@cepr.org with the subject header "4587 - ESSLE 2017". Please include the paper you wish to submit in the email, or indicate if you would like to participate without presenting a paper.

The application deadline is 18:00 (UK time) on Friday 21 April 2017. We cannot accept submissions received after this date. Please note that it may not be possible to accept all applications to attend this symposium if demand exceeds the space available. We aim to notify successful applicants by 14 May 2017.
