Colorado Shines and Race to the Top

Congratulations to Cristina Herman and Jennifer Piper!

Cristina Herman of Loveland is the FIRST Family Child Care provider in Larimer County to achieve a Level 5 in the Colorado Shines Quality Rating Improvement System! She is also a bilingual English and Spanish speaker. Way to go Cristina!

Jennifer Piper is the FIRST licensed Family Child Care provider serving children 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in Larimer County to go through an observational Colorado Shines rating. She achieved a strong Level 4! Congrats Jennifer!

As long as funding remains available, May 1, 2017 at 5:00 PM is the final deadline to apply for Race to the Top funding.  This opportunity applies to programs who reach Level 2 in Colorado Shines or who attain a Level 3-5 Rating prior to that date.  Funding ranges from $600 to $1500 based on program size and rating level attained.  Any licensed  program serving children 5 years of age and younger is able to access this funding once it meets the above criteria.

Since July 1, 2015 165 programs have received RTT funds for a total award of over $160,000 in Quality Improvement funds and as of March 1, 2017  171 programs have moved to a Level 2 or higher rating in Colorado Shines.   This means 55.5% of programs are engaged in Colorado Shines beyond being licensed.

If you are in need of assistance in getting through the application process, please contact us at 970-377-3388.  You have a minimum of $600 waiting for you once you reach Level 2.  We look forward to working with you!
