““For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.” Acts 4:27, 28, NAS95.

It is hard for us to see the "God-Connections" when we are experiencing difficulties. We seem to equate bad circumstances with the absence of God. However, the reality of this scripture and many others affirms that God is in ultimate control over every aspect of our lives. 

Look at what is being said here in this passage. The gathering, the people, the opposition, the unbelieving parties along with the believing parties all were brought together "against" our Savior Jesus. It is hard to imagine the weight of this. Here, every human power was represented as being against Him.

Now look at the last part. They were brought together "to do whatever your hand and purpose predestined to occur." These few words remind us that all things are working together on behalf of those who love God. But here is the difficult thing. When we are going through these trying times, it looks just the opposite. 

To harmonize the seasons and our faith, we only need to remember a few things. First, God is for us. Second, He is working out His purpose in our lives. Third, when it seems the darkest, we can be confident that His presence will be with us. 

If you are in a challenging or dark season right now, keep these things in your mind and heart. They will strengthen your faith and restore your joy in the midst of the darkness.
