News from the KaosPilots Switzerland:
Team SUI 4 has arrived in Cape Town

For the fifth year since 2013, the KaosPilots have their external classroom in Cape Town, South Africa. This Outpost of almost four months is one of the most powerful experiences for the KaosPilots in their training and development. The 49 students from the two schools in Bern and Aarhus, Denmark are working on 10 different projects with local partner organizations in the Cape Region - with social innovation, business development and education or culture.

For the students this is an intense and challenging experience - learning to navigate a new culture, learning to connect with new people and organizations, learning to listen to what is needed in a larger circle and learning to move into action.

KaosPilots Switzerland will continue their external classroom in Cape Town for the coming few years. If you are interested in hearing more about the outpost, get in touch with us.

Minister meets project of a KaosPilot

In February, a project that started with an assignment of the refugee quaters in Büren an der Aare to the KaosPilots reached national media coverage: The Swiss minister of justice Simonetta Sommaruga visited the work integration program In-Limbo together with two members of the geverning council of Bern and called it a flagship project in the refugee work.

The man next to minister Sommaruga on the photo is KaosPilot Jonas Beer. Together with three team mates he had created a business plan for In-Limbo two years ago. In-Limbo focuses on work integration of the refugees from their arrival. They work in a carpentry, a laundry, a nursery, an apiary and with bicycles. They produce and sell groceries and different upcycling gadgets.

Jonas is now in his last year at the KaosPilots. In the meantime, he was hired as one of the three managers of In-Limbo. He is responsible for the organizational development. In-Limbo has grown to 12 employees among which a second KaosPilot, Babette Frank, has signed up, too. This year, the concept of In-Limbo will be implemented in 7 more refugee quarters in the canton of Bern.
