Our Behind Bars Bicycle Shop manager Chuck Cowan & crew teamed up with Anders Borg Hanson and staff at Three Rivers Park District (3RPD) to host a fat bike demo day at their Silverwood Park in St. Anthony last weekend.
The temp reached 60 but the lake ice was sufficiently thick and the trails (paved and mulch) were sufficiently rideable.

A week of balmy weather took its toll on the local mountain bike trails but on Saturday Feb. 18, a small group of Great Scott Cycling Club members took advantage of free demo fat bikes at our Prior Lake shop and rode the paved trails instead.

Micah Frye’s first try at riding a pedal bike was on his 6th birthday a couple weeks ago at Michael’s Cycles in Prior Lake.
To his parents’ amazement, because of his mastery of balance on a balance bike that he’d been using for a few years, he took off down the hallway like he’d been riding for months, his mother recording a video of it on her phone and his father feverishly chasing after him.
Nothing puts a smile on a kid’s face than a new awesome birthday bike!

Michael’s Cycles has been a sponsor of the Great Scott Cycling Club for many years. What are they about?
The Great Scott Cycling Club is a social club for recreational road cyclists of all levels in and around the south of the river suburbs, primarily Scott County, MN. We also gather after rides for friendship, food, drink and conversation
The club rides every Monday and Thursday at 6:15 PM from May – October. Participants leave from Michael’s Cycles in Prior Lake on Mondays and Thursdays evenings which is conveniently located next to TJ Hooligan’s for a post-ride food, drinks, and friendship.
Over the winter, club members also gather monthly at TJ Hooligans Pub & Grub and in early Feb, Prior Lake store manager Stuart Thomas and social media guy Griff Wigley joined them.
Two of the club’s leaders are Jennifer and Kyle Sobota:

Michael’s Cycles Prior Lake teamed up with Josh Sweet and colleagues at Three Rivers Park District (3RPD) to host the 3rd Annual Fat Bike Fun Race at Cleary Lake Regional Park on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Snow conditions and race day weather were near perfect.
