March Final Project To Do List
- Solidify your final project plans by submitting your Final Project proposal via Moodle for your Faculty Mentor to approve.
- If you are working on a presentation, start making arrangements for your public presentation. Identify a preferred date, time, and location; and reach out to the pertinent individuals to make the appropriate reservations.
- Work on your final project! Try to have a rough draft around March 20 (1 full week after Spring Break).
3 Tips to Stay on Track
- Develop an internal timeline with your faculty mentor. Start by identifying the date you are submitting the final draft of your final project and work backwards. Time your deliverables (first draft, time for initial faculty mentor feedback, check in meetings) based on your academic schedule. Here is a sample schedule you can use:
- April 28: Faculty Mentor turns in Final Project Rubric
- Week of April 17: Turn in Final Project or deliver your presentation
- Week of April 10: Make final edits, confirm your presentation space, and practice delivering your presentation
- Week of April 3: Continue working on your final project
- Week of March 27: Receive feedback from your Faculty Mentor and apply changes
- Week of March 20: Turn in a first draft to your Faculty Mentor for feedback
- March 13: Turn in final project proposal on Moodle, start working on rough draft
- If you are requesting feedback from your faculty mentor, specify what type of feedback you are looking for. Would you like feedback on your content (ideas and concepts), or on your final project structure (flow and continuity)? Are you looking for some level of confirmation that you are meeting their expectations on what it means to critically reflect on your experiences? Is there a particular section where you are having difficulty and would like some guidance? Make sure to address any spelling or grammatical errors before you submit you project for feedback.
- Plans may change, but make sure to communicate any adjustments. Sometimes a class project may take more time than you initially planned, or you need to take an afternoon to destress and practice some self-care. That's ok-- life happens. You can always adjust your plans, but make sure to communicate with your Faculty Mentor ahead of time if you will need to modify your timeline on deliverables. Your Faculty Mentor is your greatest ally in successfully completing your Final Project, so help them help you by keeping them in the loop!
