B'Yachad Weekly Parent Updates
View this email in your browser
Dear Parents,

I hope you had a wonderful February break.

Today we jumped right into the thick of preparing for Purim. The Purim program is coming together nicely and many classes will be preparing songs or Shpiels (skits), making artwork, baking Hamentaschen and other educational and fun activities surrounding this holiday.

Plan to come to our Purim program on Sunday, 3/12, 9:30-1:00 at Temple Israel (600 New Scotland Avenue). It is our only fundraiser of the year, so please come and support this effort through donating items for our silent auction and bidding on them at the carnival (there are a lot of great ones).

This will be a very fun program with Megilah reading (by our own students), Purim songs, and Shpiels in addition to the carnival. We also want to show off B'Yachad and encourage new families to join our school, so please come and bring your friends, put it on Facebook and talk it up in any way you can. There is a flyer below to help you publicize it (click on the Purim flyer to download a PDF copy).

I look forward to seeing you on March 12th if not earlier.

Best,
Rabbi Miriam

Here are my updates:
Parshat Hashavua - The Portion of the Week
This week's portion, Terumah - Donation, discusses the donations given by the Israelites in order to build the Mishkan (Tabernacle). The Torah describes the Israelites as being very generous and all of their donations were used to create a beautiful, holy space. Everyone at B'Yachad brings something unique to the table to make learning about Judaism an enjoyable experience. Let's celebrate the gifts we bring and support B'Yachad at our Purim event. May we recognize the unique gifts we as individuals and a community have and find a way to celebrate them.
Purim

Thanks to all of you who have made donations to B'yachad's Purim Silent Auction. Please remember this is a "give or get" opportunity to support our children's religious school. Bring your donations into Ohav's office by March 8: Toys, Games, Books, Arts & Crafts, Judaica, Kosher Wine, or even Gift Certificates (no non-kosher food establishments, please) are needed.

After your children and you enjoy the Megillah and Purim schpiels (fun skits) we will invite everyone to the downstairs social halls for the Purim Carnival!  Food (including delicious Hamantaschen) will be available for sale so please come prepared.

Admission (includes 20 tix/child)
B'yachad Families: Free
Community Families $10
Additional tix: $5/20 tix

Finally, we are hoping that some of you may be available to help the day of the carnival.  Please be in touch with Jane Ginsburg at jabginsburg@gmail.com if you can lend a hand!
