Perth Convention Bureau News
CEO Introduction
Welcome to the first edition of Perth Convention Bureau’s newsletter for 2017 in which we would like to share with you our developments as well as those of our members and industry.

The recent Western Australia State election saw the Labor Party win a clear majority, with Mark McGowan sworn in as the state’s 30th premier. Paul Papalia CSC MLA was announced as the Minister for Tourism, Mr Papalia has a been a strong advocate for the Bureau.

Perth Convention Bureau has recently participated in a number of trade events, including the annual Asia-Pacific Meetings and Incentives Expo in February. PCB and 15 industry members exhibited on the Western Australia, representing the state and enlightening attendees about the developments in Perth. Our business development team will be attending a number of upcoming trade events including the AuSAE ACE Expo in Sydney, IMEX Europe and BEA’s Greater China Showcase in Chengdu. Our increased attendance at trade events stems from the ‘rebirth’ of Perth and our increased corporate & incentive meeting markets.

With our major upcoming developments, such as Elizabeth Quay, Perth City Link, Crown Towers, Scarborough, international exposure at trade events internationally and nationally  will ensure that potential buyers are well aware of the improvements  in Perth as a destination and how competitive Perth's on ground costs have become.

Finally, from the entire team at PCB, we’d like to wish you and your families a safe and happy Easter long weekend.

PAV – Trees Speak
Boorna Waanginy (Trees Speak) took place in February for the opening of the 2017 Perth International Arts Festival.

Trees Speak was a huge technical and logistical undertaking as well as a leap of faith by the PIAF team.

PAV were proudly invited to reunite with the team that collaborated to produce HOME in 2016.
After over 200 hours of pre-production and many long and cold Kings Park nights, PAV were fully prepared and equipped to deliver The Trees Speak.

We knew early on in the planning stages that this project was going to be something very special both from a visual sense and the message it conveyed over the moving journey through Kings Park.

Two vision trucks and four purpose-built (and waterproof!) projection towers were positioned over the 1.2km walk, with each tower housing state-of-the-art 20K projectors.

Our ten 20K (not a typo) projectors were connected by over 5km of optical fibre and accompanied by four Coolux media players and mapping software that allowed us to bring the trees to life.

A massive congratulations to our AV team on producing such wonderful vision. PAV is home to magnificent Managers, Operators, Designers and equipment from all across the globe that all combined to produce a journey like no other we have seen.

The result and feedback from the 110,000 strong crowd that attended over the weekend and subsequent national acclaim has made every step worthwhile and we look forward the next big, bold adventure.

Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre unveils technical upgrade, thanks to AVPartners
AVPartners has completed a series of state-of-the-art technical enhancements at Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC) to complement PCEC’s recent refurbishment upgrades to the venue.

The extensive technical enhancements bolster PCEC’s position as a preeminent Australian conference and events venue.

AVPartners has installed colour coded LED Barrisol lighting in PCEC’s BelleVue Ballrooms which wash the space in a wide variety of vivid colours; creating a personalised look and feel. In addition, 180 intelligent LED fixtures which illuminate individual tables have also been installed; creating a stunning alternative or enhancement to a table centrepiece. These intelligent LED fixtures also extend into the Ballrooms’ two pre-function spaces, providing guests arriving for a Gala event with an exciting and vibrant atmosphere to enjoy their pre-dinner drinks.

Other lighting additions include intelligent LED fixtures in the Theatre and Central Foyer spaces which further enhances the atmosphere for guests passing through these areas when attending events at PCEC.
To further complement the event experience at PCEC, AVPartners has also introduced digital signage for seating plans; a simple and effective solution which allows for flexibility and last minute changes with ease, inclusion of client and sponsor logos and even video.

Meeting rooms have been equipped with wireless entry double doors and new floor and wall coverings, including permanently installed curtains with LED downlighting, highlighting the stage presentation areas.
The technical upgrades demonstrate AVPartners commitment to supporting PCEC to remain at the forefront of the business events industry in WA and in Australia more broadly.

“Offering a world-class event experience relies on exceptional audiovisual concepts and sophisticated technology. We’re proud to work alongside PCEC to deliver events underpinned by both,” says AVPartners Managing Partner at PCEC Ryan Taylor.

“The technological upgrades will ensure PCEC remains a leading conference and event venue now and into the future.”
