My thoughts as a yogi turning it into a business -

I wanted to  share with you my thoughts as a yogi turning it into a business - and say thank you.

Well it has been 6 months since I took the leap and opened Central Wellness.   I cannot say it has not been without moments of stress, what if’s and late nights, but never a moment of regret.  I hope that at the heart of the “business” are the core values of my yoga teachings and practice.

When I share with people they are surprised that when I began my first yoga teacher training, over 12 years ago  it was never with the intention to teach, certainly not be running a studio.  Yoga has taught me to try to be open and available to whatever is presented.

I have always loved how the yoga practice moves us back into our body, to feel grounded and truly present. When we are tense, we become reactive, we move more from fear rather than love and trust.  I know for me that the last 6 months of working much more on my computer, dealing with what I think of as the boring and often frustrating business aspects has been reflected in my body.

When I get onto my mat to breathe, move and sit in meditation, I release the tension, I surrender to what is happening outside of that moment. Essentially, I get out of my head and back into my heart, so when I step off my mat I can go back out into the world more integrated and centred.

There is a wonderful saying “how we do anything, is how we do everything”.   In yoga we learn to observe in a challenging posture the sensation of fear and untrusting, like trying an arm balance or when our inner critic arises and we feel we are not flexible or strong enough. Learning to observe when these negative emotions arise, and to stay present to breathe, gives us a choice of how to act rather than react.

This amazing practice of yoga has helped give me the confidence and inner strength to work with staying grounded, open and available to whatever is presented on this big learning journey of opening the centre and to remind me that the core value of what is real, what is important - love, trust and faith.

I have great gratitude for those who have supported Central Wellness, my family and the other practitioners, who are committed to making the centre so special.

But most importantly though thank you for making Central Wellness a wonderful place for everyone to come to and enjoy being the best version of themselves.

Namaste Grace.
